    I have been working at S & S Worldwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

S&S is a family-owned company with big plans. The co-presidents are fourth-generation descendants of the company founder. Sitting on a legacy of over 100 years, they are determined to keep the company relevant and are prepared to spend and work to make that happen. They are smart and capable.

    Cons

It's unclear whether their big plans will be successful. Spending lots of $$, work and stress. But (and this is a pro), leadership has the support of the employees. Everyone is rowing (and bailing) the same boat.

    Advice to Management

Your employees have your back. Please have theirs as well. They are not pieces on a chess board.

    I have been working at S & S Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of incentives and Company celebrations. People for the most part are nice to work with.

    Cons

Management is reactionary and the corporate vision is all over the place. Too much pressure for the money.

    Advice to Management

Give salespeople time to build business relationships. Cuts should not be made in sales when sales are down.

    I worked at S & S Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family-owned company aspect is nice. There are a few fun events put on by HR every year for the associates. Good entry-level position to gain initial experience from. Directing photo-shoots and working with kid models was a fun experience. They are lucky to have such a good, knowledgeable photographer. Working from home opportunities is a small perk during the off season when the creative department isn't as busy.

    Cons

Salary is on the low side, with no overtime opportunities. If you want to be a true creative designer it is definitely not the place for you (or not a place that you should stay long if you don't want your design knowledge to become stale and out of date). Real creative opportunities are hard to come by and working with the merchandisers can become stressful and discouraging when they feel they are better at designing then you are. The HR department seems like a nice group of women but be careful what you do or say when you are around them because they are very likely to be nosey and tattle on you about something if they feel like it (especially if they for some reason don't like you). Communication can be poor at times, both within the department and at the company level, which can be extremely frustrating. If you are really interested in career growth or advancement then this is definitely not the place for you either. Your position is what you are and there is no moving anywhere as a designer.

    Advice to Management

Create an environment with better communication. Provide more creative learning opportunities for the designers/photographer & copywriter so they can stay on top of new creative trends and styles, and implement these into the catalogs and other designs! Providing more perks, like "Summer Fridays" where everyone can get out at 1pm is a way to help with that work/life balance and give employees something to look forward to. More paid holiday time would also be nice, compared to other companies the holiday schedule is pretty trim.

Fun, fair. Low pay. Easy work. Great family/work balance. Great entry level.

    I worked at S & S Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They make the job fun or at least they try to. There are games and give aways as well as a lot of training so that you know the job well. There are a lot of managers and higher ups that are always available for questions and help.

    Cons

Most of the people there have been working there forever and they let you know it! If you do not fit into the group, expect to hear people talking about you through cubicle walls and for there to be clear double standards. They will tell some people about mistakes and others they will just write them up. If you cannot get into the club then dont bother!!

    Advice to Management

Break up the cliques! Make sure that everyone is getting treated fairly especially among the new people.

    I have been working at S & S Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management truly believes that family comes first and they have a great attitude towards work/life balance.
Very customer focused culture but starts with making the employees happy.
    Happy Employees = Happy Customers

    Cons

Business is somewhat seasonal so a lot of extra hours and temporary staff during April-July is required.
The Company is looking to others markets to increase sales through the rest of the year.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing while looking to the future to increase and diversify revenue sources and market share.
