I have been working at SABIC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are Many good leaders and many career opportunities recently . Good work and life balance. Company offers Good 401K match.

    Cons

Higher level managers’ response is very slow. Especially from Saudi Arabia. Many new hires in lots of departments which make inefficient operations recently.

    Advice to Management

Give more power to lower level managers.

    Pros

    Health insurance is pretty good

    Cons

The only thing this company cares about are Saudi men, the women are treated as second class citizens, overlooked, and dismissed. They are trying to push their Muslim culture to all other regions of the world which is a terrible mistake. Overworked and underpaid, basically no values enforced, constant arguing, budget cuts, and you're expected to just "figure it out". Everything runs through KSA, so even if management in Americas, Europe, or Asia request something or present our needs, it is usually shut down right away. Everything is about Saudi Arabia and men. If you aren't a native or a man, forget about it.

I have been working at SABIC full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

There have been some decent upgrades to their antiquated benefit offerings. The announced acquisition by Aramco will hopefully clean this place up.

    Cons

This environment is full of sexism. If you are a woman expect to go nowhere and expect to be treated as a second class citizen working around a bunch of entitled self absorbed and dismissive Saudi men. Do your research online- there are little to no women in high level leadership positions. Promotions are nothing more than a popularity contest and a who's who of Saudi's having their international assignments extended to take jobs from more capable people. The Houston office is a TOXIC CESSPOOL with no one being held accountable for their abusive behaviors. People are always leaving and you cannot get approvals to fill their slots when needed. Constant budget cuts create the expectation that you have to do less with more. Managers are responsible for delivering but have no real power as everything is run and decisions made by leadership in Saudi Arabia. You will be overworked, underpaid, undervalued and abused with no one to turn to and no one to care about this. HR is a complete dysfunctional joke!!!!! They allow managers to go around bullying and retaliating against employees and they can't do anything about it because they are doing the same thing to each other and to the people they are supposed to be standing up for. Managers and HR are rewarded for their bad behaviors. No one is in charge of getting this place under control. It used to be such a great place to work but over the past five years or so it has gone completely downhill with bullies, intimidation, liars, schemers and incompetence at the forefront. My advice is to stay far away from this place and only work here if you have anywhere else to go and if you do work here don't make the mistake I did by staying long. I had hope that this place would get better and go back to the way it once was when the environment was like a family working together to common goals, but in the recent years I deeply regret spending any of my career here and hope to get out of here as soon as possible. Pay attention to the warning signs. Stay away!

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to turn the region here into Saudi Arabia. Stop ignoring the problems and people creating a hostile work environment. Stop turning a blind eye to what is making employees miserable. Stop being afraid to get rid of the people who are making it toxic. Stop allowing managers to mistreat employees. Stop allowing Saudi's to be disrespectful and dismissive of women. Stop treating female employees like second class citizens. Stop allowing morale to take a nose dive. Stop the turnover. Stop constantly changing things for no reason. Clean this place up and take it back to what it was before or you're going to keep losing good people!

I worked at SABIC full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If you are in Houston, and are not good enough to work for a top notch petrochemical company, this is the company for you. Apparently, the only real qualification to work for SABIC is to live in Houston. And the pay is fantastic for the mediocre who will be hired.

    Cons

Stone age HR practices. Experience and dedication are not valued. Saudi cultural practices have been extended globally, and this does NOT work. The CEO may be valued in Saudi Arabia, but he has literally destroyed the Americas business. This company is a major trainwreck. If you are not Saudi, forget advancement past middle management. This is the worst kind of biased, preferential BS you can imagine. If you are ambitious, and want to grow your career, and make a difference, GO ELSEWHERE!

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. Saudi culture cannot and should not be 'exported'. The former CEO at least knew not to try this. While they have enough money to sustain this for a while, this is a major disaster in the making .. abandon hope all ye who enter!

    Pros

Decent Benefits Worklife balance Pay is above average for the industry

    Cons

Where to even begin.... Idiots running the show in Saudi Arabia do not even have a clue where to take this company Absolutely the most pathetic company culture of any large organizations I have come across HR is a complete joke. No communication, and no interaction. Zero career growth or even a hint of career development Mass exodus of employees in Europe and Americas Tried to go cheap route and save money on SAP implementation. SAP implementation has destroyed industry reputation in US. Just Ask the Automotive industry Senior Leadership is a revolving door now in US Reorganizing every year. Yes, no misprint. They have a reorganization every year !

    I worked at SABIC

    Pros

Sallary & benefits according to market average

    Cons

    1) No career plan: instead to grow up, they did a mass downgrade on the job titles. As a result, no future expectations about career development 2) No investments on training: even those to keep the professional updated on new technologies 3) Downsizing in the global team: closing global positions, centralizing positions just in Saudi Arabia

    Advice to Management

Should review people management strategy, including IT/HR staff
