I worked at SAC Wireless full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of team building activities, equipment provided was relatively current, upper management was accessible, PTO/benefits were decent. Tries hard to have the startup culture.

    Cons

While I learned a lot at this job, a lot of it was baptism by fire rather than being mentored by a veteran. Directives were often not filtered down transparently, which caused a lot of unnecessary work. Depending on your department there was no room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on transparency and giving out focused and thought out directives to increase efficiency.

I have been working at SAC Wireless full-time

    Pros

    Stability thanks to Nokia funding.

    Cons

Morale amongst team members was very low. There was a severe lack of communication from upper management down to the project team. Processes and procedures were not clearly defined. Projects were not properly staffed for and planned for prior to kickoff.

    Advice to Management

Define processes and procedures, staff and plan for projects in advance, and hire more knowledgeable employees.

I worked at SAC Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked with some great people (not upper management). Made some life long friends. Always a good time with everyone.

    Cons

    Bad pay.

    Bad vacation.

Upper management and HR were not willing to discuss vacation or pay. Avoided the discussion.

Everything is based on who you know.

When there were major layoffs, there was no attempt to boost moral. Not even a slight attempt. Did not make anyone feel safe and it was just a weird vibe in the office for a while.

No cake day. Seems small to complain about, but it was the only thing that actually brought us together through the company. There were no other events or potlucks. Nothing was actually organized through the company. It was a nice thing to show some appreciation to everyone.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to your employees when they try to reach out.

    Cons

As often in the industry, downsizing can happen.

I worked at SAC Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Made good friends, close to public transportation. The work itself is not difficult and the training was relatively good. Close teamwork develops good friendships.

    Cons

You can tell there is a lot of nepotism (at least when I was there). It's all about who you know and not what you know when it comes to promotions. The work should really be sold as temporary - once your project is done, there is a decent chance you will be let go because they don't have a position for you.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your employees and maintaining quality employees rather than just your friends. Also, implement better systems so people aren't making the same mistakes over and over.

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere. The job can be what you make of it.

    Cons

No real job security. The pay and benefits are not that great.

    Pros

    Pay is decent (For management)

    Cons

    Poor pay for climbers
Little vacation (If your boss lets you take it)
Nokia merger killed this company. And the VP's are making sure the employees feel the ship sinking.
Can't purchase anything without VP approval...
What the heck is cake day? Did MN ever have that?
Too many chiefs, not enough indians..
Started new brighton office working off of plastic folding chairs and tables... Made (Enough) money to keep everyone happy. And I still can't get a laptop dock..

    --- Harnesses are a Joke! ---

    Advice to Management

The guys in the field are the ONLY reason you have a job. You keep "pooping" (No foul language here) on them, and that's why profits are down. Pay them better, Give bonuses, Match 401k, and get them some decent gear for crying out loud. Don't ship "Used" safety gear from Chicago.. It's garbage, that's why we throw it away.

    Pros

Overall, good and sound company. Ability to work in different geographical areas. Company is expanding and provides services to all of the major carriers.

    Cons

Sometimes, schedule is dominant at the local level.
