I worked at SAC Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and the people. There was cake day every month for birthdays which was cool. Received company gear like under armor shirts with the company logo in it.

    Cons

Moved the company downtown Chicago stopped giving raises. Took employee incentives away. Did not care about the employees anymore. They only cared about the bottom line.

I have been working at SAC Wireless (More than a year)

    Pros

    easy job
    work independently without oversight
pick up on a variety of skills

    Cons

management made of under qualified people that have "experience"
if company does not have work, you sit making no money
    no chance for promotion
taking orders from someone that live hundreds of miles away in their living room

    Advice to Management

promote from with it and really take a look at management and the supervisor-director level

    Pros

Very supportive work environment..... smart team-members who supported each other. My manager rocked! Fun and energetic office.

    Cons

Over hiring! No job security here

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your work load and hire based off that..... don't forecast too far out which is how your seemingly determining your staffing needs and ultimately results in major downsizing.

I have been working at SAC Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work with some good people, salary is decent, facility is great. Benefits are ok but need matching 401k match in the future to stay competitive.

    Cons

Not much of a work life balance, need processes around things. Company seems to lean on certain people so they carry the load.

    Advice to Management

    Need processes

I have been working at SAC Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management generally encourages a good work/life balance.

New hire training and telecom "boot camp" is getting better, though many specialists are left to fend for themselves to figure out new processes. Luckily for SAC management, most of the workforce are young and eager to help others out.

With a few notable exceptions, most team leads, sub-leads, and project managers are respectful, inclusive and good at their jobs. Employees at the specialist/coordinator level tend to be younger. Teams tend to be fairly diverse and most folks are generally respective of others.

Many talented people who do leave for other opportunities tend to return.

    Cons

Many of the cons come with the project-based nature of white-collar telecom jobs -- work is largely seasonal and subject to sudden up- and down-sizing. Morale swings like a pendulum, accordingly. There is also a heavy reliance on contract-to-permanent hiring, and the quality of new hires can vary wildly.

After a large layoff last year, almost no effort seemed to be put into recovering morale. Not much emphasis is placed on team-building activities (intramural leagues, happy hours, holiday events, etc.), although that may actually be a pro for some people.

Still acts like a small company in many ways -- there is a definite culture of nepotism, rumor-mongering, intra-team squabbling, etc.

Many long-time employees are clear under-performers and feel too safe in their roles. This is doubly true with many of the "old telecom guys" who refuse to learn new skills and processes. Thankfully, this herd is starting to thin out.

    Advice to Management

Continue to follow through on your promises to communicate company goals and the state of SAC to staff. What happened to town halls? Invitations to sit in on state-of-the-company calls? You've heard this over and over again from your staff, and despite promises to get better, you've fallen back on old habits -- we're back to radio silence. This must change.

There is almost zero emphasis on professional development, and no unified effort to identify and cultivate up-and-coming talent.

Do not instruct employees that it is forbidden or "against company policy" to discuss their compensation and benefits with others. This is unprofessional.

    Pros

United office, when you fit in. Great support from the director!

    Cons

If you don't fit in, you won't enjoy your days. Last minute office decisions and unprofessional atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

None, the company is going the way it wants, just wasn't a fit for me.

I have been working at SAC Wireless full-time

    Pros

The company is expanding at a very rapid rate (been seeing hundreds of new faces at our location alone). Work environment is balanced, learning opportunities are available for those who seek them, and the teams are professional and easy to work with most of the time.

Pay is adequate, but the benefits are phenomenal; great 401(k) match, health, vision, and dental insurance, commuter fare reductions, and discounts on traveling and other things are available.

    Cons

As with all other companies that face growth, oversight can be a problem. Structural improvement, more accountability, and better market oversight is a big need. The company atmosphere overall is slightly rigid, although this varies between departments.

    Advice to Management

Hold more townhall meetings to receive input from and pass constructive and critical reviews about the departments. Encourage positive work philosophies in order to root out procrastination, actively observe and engage with the departments, and seek to quickly address deficiencies within the company. Since some of the work is seasonal, implement cross-training programs.

    Pros

money invested in safety , equipment , vehicles is a big plus... i was pleased with their cheap insurance , benefits short and long time disability and alot more ... all that is amazing! Thank you...!

    Cons

Management in smaller locations ! PMs , CMs ..... AMs FMs whatever they call themselves ... please , change the industry...! One CM making over 100k per year , cant handle bids , material order or the scope of work... but hey! There are foremans out there that can answer these questions quicker! Well, there should be right people for right positions! Office people are pigs! They dont do anything , they point their guilty fingers at field technicians just to defend themselves , they discriminate them , they have no respect at all. They all buddies buddies ... if you aint no buddy , you cant get a job... simple... and if you try to get a job... they will call your current employer , make fun of you , and say all bad things with nasty smile on their faces... overall... management is nasty!

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on the project and people that make money for you... try to think less what you will eat for lunch!

I have been working at SAC Wireless full-time

    Pros

Generally speaking the team members there are pleasant.

    Cons

There does seem to be a culture of nepotism. There is a disconnect between upper management and the rest of the employees although there has been some attempts to improve this. The work is project based which is to say it can come and go very quickly so job security can be low. Low pay compared to competitors
