I worked at SAIC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

SAIC is a great company to work for. The leadership is mostly retired senior military officers so its a well run organization.

    Cons

Their business model was internal competition which pits different business units against each other to compete for opportunities. But you also hone your skills and you learn to develop business skills

    I worked at SAIC full-time

    Pros

SAIC (split into Leidos and SAIC). Good benefits.

    Cons

Company's "good old boy" and "good old girl" network is alive and well. Management at all levels hire family and friends often to the exclusion of better qualified individuals. The managers and PMs collaborate to give their "family and friends" the best paying positions and protect each other when contracts end and people are losing contract coverage.

    Advice to Management

SAIC / Leidos managers only care about moving their own career forward. Any advice would be a lost cause.

I worked at SAIC as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people and great culture. People know when to be serious, but also have fun at the same time. Really appreciated being offered more and more responsibility as time went on, especially to someone who is at the starting point of their career. Some of the best people I have ever met, and look forward to future opportunities with SAIC.

    Cons

The commute to Tyson's Corner area (McLean) is not so great, but worth it for the opportunity to work at such a company.

    Advice to Management

Keep targeting younger professionals especially people who are just beginning their career through college internships and increase diversity recruiting.

I worked at SAIC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great peer groups (intelligent and hard working). I was fortunate to be part of great group where I learned a lot and was able to perform even better when I transferred within the organization.

    Cons

Middle management not communicating effectively with higher management. As a result well qualified employees may feel out of place.

    Advice to Management

Create a comfortable environment where all employees can easily share ideas.

I have been working at SAIC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are average like 401K and insurance. They pay real good.

    Cons

HR department sucks. I contacted HR several times to get more information on the Health Insurance benefits and no one seems to reply. I also applied to another position through employee career portal and no HR responded. Management is also really bad.

    Advice to Management

The management should take interest in their employees as well as offer better perks outside of work environment.

I have been working at SAIC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some good technical training options, co-workers are very nice. The contracts are interesting and engaging.

    Cons

Management style issues, I find management is disengaged. Non existent work-life balance, looks good to put verbiage on website but those values aren't shared down to what seem like departmental silo's.

    Advice to Management

Turn-over should not be a replacement for good leadership and interpersonal skills. Front line management should share the same values as what's on the website. "Our People Make SAIC Great" should be more than a bunch words on the web.

    Pros

Offer many ways to try different things around the company. Been with them over 20 years and have grown from a technical person into management.

    Cons

Benefits need to be more focused on the employee.

I have been working at SAIC as a contractor

    Pros

Work is challenging and my particular environment has a great team atmosphere. And like I said it's a job (steady paycheck)

    Cons

SAIC does not seem to really care about their employees. Every new year they cut a benefit in the name of being more competitive. Insurance was first then they started with reimbursement for education and certifications, then it was PTO build up (which is still not horrible but was better a few years ago). Whenever I tell someone I work for SAIC the first thing out of there mouth is "How do you like that insurance?"

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your employees
