    Pros

Decent pay but not compared to fellow employees doing the same job. Can easily move to different positions within the company.

    Cons

Poor management. Low morale. Contracts are micromanaged.

I worked at SAIC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The expectations for schedule and work output were consistent for the entire team. They had proper coverage and the environment was low stress and repetitive. They would work with employees that were struggling instead of just replacing them.

    Cons

There weren't many opportunities to cross-train, take additional training, or advance within then contracts. Management was often disconnected from the contract. The morale was always low.

    Advice to Management

Management should provide additional training opportunities and promote from within. Also they would benefit from morale boosting among the team. This could be something as simple as lunch being brought in on a busy day.

I have been working at SAIC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

SAIC has contracts start and end. They try their best to place you on overhead work until another contract starts. This may have little to do with your core skills.

    Cons

There is always the notion when your contract ends you may be looking for work.

    Advice to Management

Develop a product other than service to place benched-employees.

    Pros

Benefits are great as far as insurance and leave time.

    Cons

But don't expect to be able to use your education benefit unless you have a manager that want to help you move on with your career. I find most of the management there need not be management.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with MANAGEMENT skills not just because they came out of the military.

    Old school, sexist, 70s mentality
Giant temp agency for the government

    Pros

Overall a good place to work - decent benefits - nice co-workers - good location - job satisfaction really depends upon the department you are in & the management under whom you work

    Cons

A "good ol' boy" network; women in admin support positions are generally underpaid

I worked at SAIC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management quality and support varies as with any large organization, and may be somewhat outside your control. My own personal experience has been great, but YMMV. For someone who is proactive and can network, a person may be able to move around as their career matures.

    Cons

Many different internal IT systems at play. Can be very difficult to get information about one's own program and role in the organization. Some of this is being addressed, but roll-out will take time.
