I have been working at SAIC as a contractor

    Pros

They Matched the first 6% in the 401K

    Cons

The benefits program is above average for a company this large. Nothing negative

I have been working at SAIC as a contractor

    Pros

Even when customer has attempted to replace our current contract, the company has always worked hard to keep us employed on other projects, even during stop work on current contract.

    Cons

Being an offsite employee is not always easy and it's difficult to feel part of a team when physically separated. However, the people in our chain of command have always kept us in the loop and communicated with us frequently. Not much of a con in my book.

I have been working at SAIC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

SAIC offers amazing inroads to many federal agencies and types of work across all disciplines. Innovative things are happening within various groups and contracts.

    Cons

Work locations seem mostly focused on in northern Virgina and a few other DoD installations and locales.

    Advice to Management

Ask prospective employees about their involvement with programs and system activities. You'll find tremendous talent and experience within development, integration, and operation/support contracts.

I have been working at SAIC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

SAIC has great flexibility in work schedules and locations despite being 90% in Federal Contracting. They offer competitive salaries, good benefits, and lots of opportunity within the company for growth.

    Cons

SAIC's main locations for tech jobs are all on the East Coast. They have locations worldwide, but those are specialty contracts for mostly non-technical roles. I'd love to travel more with SAIC.

    Advice to Management

Empower your employees and get rid of under-performers. It's hard to maintain motivation if you get rewarded the same as those around you who are slacking .

I have been working at SAIC as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

SAIC has lots of contracts around the D.C. Metro area so I believe you can choose a location based on its proximity to your house.
    Good pay
    Great headquarters
I was assigned to a customer site in downtown D.C. and it was a wonderful experience.

    Cons

I was assigned to one of SAIC's customers site in Washington DC and the parking there was not free. Most of SAIC has free parking though.
Because of no free parking, I took the bus to and from work which was not bad at all.
And working in DC was wonderful experience since everything was just a couple of minutes walk from work building. White House, Capitol building, and lots of other food places. The experience of working in D.C. most definitely outweighed the commuting expenses.

compensation wasn't average median salaries in Hawaii

    Advice to Management

Base Salaries comparable across the IT industry

I have been working at SAIC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Always has supported my needs with whatever technical, business, and personal issues.

    - If you perform well they stay out of your hair and focus on empowering you. I really appreciate that.

    - Keeps administrative burdens to the minimum.

    - Pay is quite fair and raises are handled in a straightforward manner.

    Cons

    - I am a contractor for a DOD client. Many of SAIC's jobs are these. If the contract is not renewed you can find yourself in the wild. SAIC does have a robust re-utilization program, but contract work is never guaranteed.
