I worked at SAIC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

SAIC invests in it's employees putting a premium on professional development and potential for career advancement.

    Cons

Since the transition from being an employee owned Company to a publicly traded company the culture has changed to being overly focused on business development.

    Advice to Management

Slow but steady growth through current customer satisfaction balanced with achievable business development (BD) makes for a better work environment than one that's overly focused on BD for new customers/contracts.

    Pros

Very professional work environment. Great co-workers. Enjoy interacting with our customers.

    Cons

Ever since the company went public in 2013, upper management has placed most employees as Casual Employees (CE), without benefits, just an hourly salary, unless there is a direct contract or charge number where we can become Full Time Employees (FTE). This company shift has made employees that are not former military retirees and have a steady retirement income coming in every month, to leave the company to seek other full time opportunities elsewhere because they cannot sustain a household on part time salary.

    Advice to Management

Bring your most valuable employees to a full time employee status with fringe benefits after any direct contract ends, this will entice employees to seek job security elsewhere.

I have been working at SAIC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people. Great benefits. They try to provide job security in a tough, contract-based atmosphere.

    Cons

Sometimes the tradeoff between job security and reduced compensation/reduced hours. But I think that is more about our current federal government needing to reduce costs.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do. Taking care of the people at client sites is what gives SAIC an edge over other contractors.

    Pros

Lots of good people working on meaningful projects that matter on a global scale. Good work / life balance for the most part

    Cons

The company seems to be more concerned with their shareholders than their employees since going public. They say they value their employees but all they care about is the bottom line.

I worked at SAIC as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly employees and decent pay. Great intern retreat in D.C. Hands on experience and sponsored security clearance. Learned alot about the company and the type of work they do. Unless your placed in D.C or Maryland you wont have alot of other interns in the area.

    Cons

A lot of down time. High security.
