I have been working at SAMEER (R&D of DIT Govt of India) as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to work on the latest technologies. I was allowed to think on my own and bring ideas to the table to solve complex scientific problems in the field of Radar instrumentation and atmospheric science.
You get to use the latest test and measurement instruments that can go as high as 50GHz.
One of the very few places in India to do research on W-Band.
You will gain tremendous experience in Digital circuit design, FPGAs, microcontrollers, Microwave design in C, X, Ka, W bands, Signal processing, systems engineering, layout design and much more.
If project requires you to travel, you might also end up visiting scientific facilities on various hill stations.

    Cons

    Salary compensation is too less.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the work done by the junior staff and give more compensation based on work.

I have been working at SAMEER (R&D of DIT Govt of India) as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

SAMEER is an autonomous R & D laboratory at Mumbai under Department of Electronics, Government of India with a broad mandate to undertake R & D work in the areas of Microwave Engineering and Electromagnetic Engineering Technology. key research areas are Medical Linac, Siddarth- Medical electronics, optics and photonics, atmospheric radar, RFMS, EMI/EMC and Industrial and meteorological research.

    Cons

Less Salary. Very Less Permanent employee.

    Advice to Management

They should regulate the rules and they should bring new and innovative projects.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at SAMEER (R&D of DIT Govt of India) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very much freedom of work and if taken positively then best place to work. U will get full access of very rare and expensive instruments and so knowledge level will build up nothing like anything. For starting your career, its a best place. But after some year things changes.

    Cons

One should work on self motivation. No one to direct your career path. So must be careful to see on which path your career going. Freedom should taken positively. Basically it is a government organisation after all. One can become a lazy government employee after some years of working in this atmosphere.
Next thing is salary. With SAMEER salary schemes one cant become wealthy, although this depends on your definition of "wealthy. So your salary is always 50% less than what your friends with 50% less brain level (It actually hurts u know).
The working atmosphere is typical government style. So dont expect to get a better job in private sector if you worked in SAMEER for 4-5 years.

    Advice to Management

    Don't waste taxpayer money.

    Pros

Learned lot of things under the leadership of Scientist Anil Kulkarni and my mentor Yashashree Mam from IMSD department.

    Cons

    Boring environment and political scenario.

    Advice to Management

I think managers should utilize their resources wisely and carefully. Poeple working under managers are not put into the projects in which they are best in that which take lots of time to complete the project. Instead it would have taken less time if gets allocated in the project of his/her's interest.
