    Pros

Things change rapidly. Management gives you the freedom to try new things.

    Cons

There are many layers of senior management.

Chaotic, constant reorgs at all levels

    Nov 4, 2021 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Backed by SAP, who actually cares about their employees. Stood by their struggling business units throughout the pandemic, preserving headcount and continuing focus.

    Cons

Concur is on outdated tech, trying to overhaul (with varied success) and migrate to more modern architectures. Senior management communicates a vision, but the actions taken don't seem to line up with that vision. Constant reorgs at all levels of the org leave individual teams and engineers questioning "what's going to happen tomorrow?"

    Political Circles

    Pros

I really and truly did enjoy my time at Concur. Most of the people are really great and I made so many friends. I learned so much along the way and grew as a professional. The Executive team is comprised of some really smart people who work very hard to keep the culture going strong and they continue driving Concur's vision of "The Perfect Trip". The product itself is by far the market leader, I was always very excited to talk to about our vision and how we will continue to do exciting things.

    Cons

Lots of political circles, if you're not included you will have a much harder time. The company has a lot of people who have been with Concur from the early days, some are in mid-level and senior management roles. I would assume that many are in management because of the tight circles, some of these people should not be in leadership roles. They are only concerned with themselves and climbing the management ladder. I've witnessed some of the senior management at team building events behave in a manner that I know the Executive's would not condone. It's very sad to see this type of behavior, it promotes a toxic culture.

    Pros

The leader in T&E and great people to work with

    Cons

Senior management promotes the same people every year even though a great deal of them do not make their numbers in sales.

    Stay Away

    Pros

Decent benefits and paid time off.

    Cons

HR is the worst I have ever seen. Only at work to promote themselves. I found it hard to find employees at Concur who felt differently. Senior management prefers "yes" men/women. If you have an opinion that differs from top management you will have trouble moving up. Most people at Concur below the Director level can't wait for the market to improve so they can leave. Morale is very low within many of the departments. People should stay away from this company at all costs.

Great people but leadership is going off track

    Pros

They hire great people. My peers across the business were fantastic, intelligent, hard working and genuinely nice people.

    Cons

Senior management in SMB/SMN business unit are going off track. The focus of doing what’s right for the business seems to be pushed aside for personal agendas and egos. They seem to want micro managers in senior roles so that experienced capable staff leave.

Good product but some deep cause for concerns

Aug 23, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in Maidenhead, England

    Pros

Good product, with a solid support base and R & D team, good culture in some functions. Some very talented and supportive members there

    Cons

Huge pay imbalances, some very concerning members of senior management, i witnessed one scenario where one manager (who was promoted) played two of there employees against each other in a truly degrading way, resulting in a very demoralized team . What really surprised me was the complete lack of response from HR about this well known issue. This saw a wave of very talented people leave to avoid such culture

I'm the boss you're an idiot.

Mar 5, 2017 - Software Development Engineer In Test II in Prague

    Pros

Ideal organization to be a boss there. Whatever level of manager you are - you will be comfortable there. Zero commitment, not accountable for anything - it's a dream job.

    Cons

Transparency, career growth, recognition - you won't find any of these in this company. The motto of this company is "I'm the boss you are an idiot." If you want to join this company as a personal contributor - be prepared for the mentioned treatment. Or, rather, apply straight for the management position. Career growth: To cut the long story short - you'll need to quit the company to get to better position. Some people are waiting for 5 years for the next step in their career. If your manager gets promotion, and there is a vacancy for you - relax, you won't get promoted. Instead, HR will work on finding someone "more appropriate" to fill the gap. You'll stay where you are, and next couple of years will be spent to "prove you are capable" to some stranger, who just joined. Transparency: In general, it's very difficult to get a consistent feedback from HR and from the management, regarding whatever question, related to career development path, salary or expected deliverable. Recently, the senior management had recognized that their All-Hands meetings don't have any value. People don't understand, don't listen and don't trust. What the management did to improve the situation... Yes, they made those meetings to happen more frequently. The situation gets even worse, if you are not aware of additional connections in the organizational structure. It's quite common that managers of different parts of the organization might play ping-pong together, or be an ex-couple, or still sleeping together. Imagine, you have reported someone's misbehavior to HR, taking all precautions and with strict confidentiality. What will happen if that someone has shared interests with the HR representative? Yes, it's you who gets punished. Or, another scenario - you kicked someone from the meeting room you had booked one month ago, but she is in contact with HR or your manager, what happens next - you get another punishment. Recognition: There is a game, named "yearly review" in this company. Every year you and your manager will set the goals. After the goals are set, you'll work on achieving them, and if you have got all them done, you would expect the bonus, right? Not in this company. After you have achieved something, there is a special "calibration session", where some strangers are deciding if your goal setting was adequate. If you did not predict the company future and aligned your yearly goals incorrectly - you take all the risks, and after calibration session, you'll be told, that company did not need whatever of what you have delivered, so no bonus for you. That's funny - goals are set together with your manager, but it's you who takes all the risks.
