I have been working at SB & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Growing firm- opportunity to grow

    Cons

No work life balance; management reviews employees based on their impression - not on actual performance. If a job goes well, the boss takes the credit; if a job fails, middle level takes the blame.

    Advice to Management

If you value your middle level , please show it.

I worked at SB & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Partners and employees do care about their work, and satisfying its customers.

    Cons

Turnover was constant. From admin positions, to HR, to leadership positions - if you last a year that seemed to be a rarity.

Management demands were unattainable and unrealistic.

    Advice to Management

After the way I was treated, they don't deserve my two cents.

    I worked at SB & Company full-time

    Pros

    The office is very nice.

    Cons

One of the Partners is a racist
Managing Partner is a control freak
Waste of time to try to bring creativity or expertise because they will find a way to fire you if you don't do what they tell you to do.

    Advice to Management

Try keeping your employees more than a few months

    Pros

Great place to work. They really care about the PEOPLE. They will challenge you and motivate you. This is a place for high performing people.

    Cons

This is a place for high performing people. If you aren't willing to apply yourself and work hard, this isn't the place for you.

    Pros

First off not sure where so much of the negativity was coming from in the other reviews but I will provide an honest and objective opinion. These are:

-Open office environment (at HV office) - very easy to communicate with colleagues especially for a new staff
-Very friendly coworkers and upper management - I have yet to experience except for one occasion what the other reviews mentioned
-If you speak up and inform upper management, they WILL listen - but you need to speak up
-The hours here are WAY better than other accounting firms
    -Becker CPA review discount

    Cons

However, there are definitely some issues that do not seem to be addressed:

-Low compensation compared to the market
-Turnover is INSANE - senior management seriously needs to look into this
-Scheduling can be way too erratic - I have had numerous where I am put on a client last-minute
-Easily can be blindsided when reviews aren't provided to staff
-Too large of a separation between staff and senior management
    -Not enough recognition in place

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and I feel that SBC is improving in the right direction. Once some of the issues are addressed and as we gain more clients, I feel SBC will really start to be well-known.

    Pros

The first few months is incredible. You'll feel like you made the best decision of your life. It's like a honeymoon! Then reality kicks in ...

    Cons

Here's reality ... poor, poor management with minimal ability to lead; minimal value on employees (you are replaceable mindset); low pay, lack of trust within the culture (primarily stemming from shady management); lack of regard for work/home life balance.

    Advice to Management

You are not the sole person creating your revenue. Treat your employees better, as the ones who are really responsible for success. Once you achieve that culture, all else will fall in to place once.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Multi cultured environment, provides high level of tolerance for employees who have family or personal related issues that tend to affect normal work schedules.

    Cons

Auditors believe the way computers work is akin to items that need to be counted.

    Advice to Management

Need a buffer for escalating IT related matters that need detailed explanation. Also, while they need to understand that technology has it's limitations, the need to understand that a netadmin cannot possibly know everything cannot be overemphasized especially since access to training is being denied everytime it's requested.
