I have been working at SBM Atlantia

    Pros

Very interesting and complex products and great opportunities for growth. Knowledgeable people and great benefits. Stable financial situation thanks to lease revenue.

    Cons

Many different nationalities make it difficult to communicate efficiently between department. No overtime. Difficult to keep a team in place due to large turnover, specific to Houston.

I worked at SBM Atlantia full-time

    Pros

I really have to think hard about this. Only minor things like quarterly $100 lunch cards and free gym might be what I can write down here.

    Cons

I doubt that engineers are really needed here. All you do every day is pretty much to copy and paste stuff from past projects based on the instructions from your manager. Keep the instructions in writing just in case someone shifts the responsibility to you later. You got to do work quick. The manager normally tells you it is due by the end of the day today. The department manager does not want to hear anything negative...

I have been working at SBM Atlantia full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benifits are ok but not as good as represented.

    Cons

You can go to competing companies and get 100% vested day 1 Not at SBM Atlantia. Salary is seriously less than competing companies. ONLY people left are either fly fishing all day or in retirement mode.

    Advice to Management

    Lost cause.

I worked at SBM Atlantia full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Low Cost Medical, on-site gym, $100.00 per quarter loaded on card to eat in company deli. Free Christmas party. Company closed between Christmas and New Year with minimum PTO required by direct employees, etc. Company sponsored overnight employee offsite family event at a resort yearly.

    Cons

Mid level managers at SBM are now hired based on their specifec technical ability (finance, cost cutting experience, etc) without any consideration for their skill or lack thereof in successfully managing and motivating the people that they lead. Importing mid level managers to the Houston office who learned management practices in Europe or elsewhere and who have used criticism, fear and intimidation to improve employee...

    Advice to Management

Great Benefits alone are not enough to attract and retain good talent in the Houston market. Competitive salary and overtime can purchase good benefits at competing companies. Employees will not chase higher salaries if they feel appreciated, if there is a documented plan for career growth and their professional input for process improvement is considered.

I have been working at SBM Atlantia

    Pros

Perhaps it is O.K. for younger and inexperienced and foreign nationals to work there as the culture is more conducive to them.

    Cons

Due to very high turnover rate for last year , the employees are new and very uncertain about their future and te company's future. Work ebvironment appears to be very fearfl as there is no open and honest communications. Senior mangement favors european employees such as dutch, french, etc. The company is unable to attract expeirenced engineers , therefore, continues to hire foreign employees as the majority is...

    I worked at SBM Atlantia

    Pros

-Great co-workers. Friendly and approachable, and diverse work-force. -Pretty decent benefits. Good 401K matching, PTO, good medical, even a pension. -Very easy to maintain a life-work balance

    Cons

-No control over your career. Never had a conversation with manager or anyone about my future and aspirations in the company. -Salary flat lined during my stay, with very small raises (1.5-2.5%). -Even tough feedback was always positive, never given a promotion, and was always promised one "next time". -Unless you are dutch or french, forget about breaking in to even a middle-management position.

    Advice to Management

Get serious about a succession program to motivate and retaining young talent.
