    Pros

Strong company, talented people. People want to do the right thing. Mix of people with lot of experience combined with lots of new people

    Cons

Passive aggressive culture, people afraid to speak up, location is in Wisconsin. New people don't appreciate the culture of what was historically built

    Pros

SCJ offers competitive salaries, health benefits & 401k plan. The company is a large stable private company. Products are well known and trusted by consumers.

    Cons

The company needs to do better on diversity. There is a need for more diversity in management, especially at the senior level. There is an issue with age discrimination, especially in management. The company has ways of forcing them out. It always appears on the surface that these folks volunteer to leave or take an early retirement.

    Advice to Management

Take more of an initiative to bring in more diversity at all levels of management (especially at the senior level). Value the experience of your senior employees. Allow them to do more mentoring & stop forcing finding legal ways to force them out.

    Pros

Harder and harder to find as time goes on

    Cons

No integrity, don't live their values, no decision-making ability, chasing every crazy idea, no work-life balance. Upper management is too busy throwing each under the bus and everyone else is caught in the cross fire.

I have been working at SC Johnson full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This Company has a "soul", operates on highly ethical principles, genuinely cares for the greater good of the world and communities. Excellent Brands and Products, very ethical about product claims, does not over claim to be competitive if it can't stand the scrutiny

    Cons

Recent changes with Top Level Executives coming from outside is changing the wonderful culture rather drastically for the worse. The new executives have no appreciation for good work done in the past....They see a need to fix everything as if everything is broken ...No longer is there respect for decent working hours, meetings go on till 9 and 10 p.m. and they take pride in this...; meetings scheduled on long week ends or business trips start on long week ends, lots of flip flop in decision making. No work-life balance. No respect for family time...it is all about "numbers"...all the time

    Advice to Management

Please find a way to retain good elements in the Company culture; aggressive pursuit of business results should not be achieved by turning this wonderful Company into an aggressive stock listed company wannabee. Number of recent people exits is due to loss of the culture that made this Company great....

    Pros

Benefits okay, slow pace, predictable. You don't really have to perform ... just fit in and drink the corporate kool-aid.

    Cons

Horrible morale, high turnover as company does NOT actually behave in a manner reflective of their propaganda image. Low opportunities for advancement.
Loss of core values that helped build the company. No respect anymore for employee loyalty.
Used to be a good company but management changes have driven off loyal employees similar to me.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing....you are making your competitors very happy.

    Pros

Principle-based Chairman and great workers in the factories.

    Cons

Lost their way with the awful fellow from Pepsico. I can't believe the leadership allowed the destruction of the culture.

I have been working at SC Johnson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of autonomy. Management trusts employees. As long as results are being delivered in an ethical way, there is a lot of flexibility given.

    Cons

Sometimes opportunities are not well advertised. There is a bit of 'who you know' when it comes to finding interesting assignments.

    Advice to Management

Find people's special skills and give them opportunities to use them.

I worked at SC Johnson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Theoretically it could be a good place

    Cons

Doesn't seem to know what to do with the people and expertise they have.
Very much not a family company, if you are not their family. Don't believe what you hear there.
Very very poor onboarding process, and extremely poor HR - trying to cram all people into little molds that are easy to evaluate numerically.

    Advice to Management

State the truth - that SCJ will be another P&G or Clorox or Pepsi. This is not a family company and is not run like one. Until that is the culture, communication, and and is understood, the clash of "family / relationship-based company" versus "numerical, performance-based" will simply cause issues.

    SC Johnson Response
