    Good opportunity - learned new skills

    Cons

    Too many managers, supervisors , directors and VPs in some departments - Example 30 employees in one department and 14 employees were in management.

    Advice to Management

    Keep reaching for CMS 5 Stars - you have the right stuff and staff to make it!

    Pros

    Free lunches, you don't have to clock in & clock out, cleaning building/kitchen/restrooms, adequate office equipment & supplies

    Cons

    Expected over time work on Saturdays, unfriendly staff, non-team environment department, unavailable supervisors when you have questions & don't make themselves approachable, staff seem stressed out so aren't pleasant to approach & talk to, small close to each other cubicles so surrounding noise by others on the phone makes it difficult to focus on task, and manager is rarely around or part of the team

    Advice to Management

    Be aware of how you come across to staff by being more approachable, and check in with staff periodically to offer guidance, praise, & encouragement.

    Pros

    physical workspace is clean, safe and conducive to working. Senior level management provides for regular meets and open discussion. Occasional employee appreciation in form of coffee, holiday meals and similar. Free parking and discounts available for some local services (gym, amusement park).

    Cons

    Claims Dept running amok with incompetent leadership. HR needs a look into.

    Advice to Management

    Get a reality check---in my experience working in claims department-- confusion, inconsistencies, favoritism, intimidation and pettiness-- felt like high school with the mean girls. Many repeat errors reported without demonstrated corrective action taken, nor improvement. The culture in this department makes it difficult for well meaning employees to trust senior level management.. It makes the regular meets with the CEO inconsequential. There is a very real fear of retaliation. The whole claims department needs to be re-vamped. Many mailroom staff was promoted to claims examiner positions -- was there ever validation of competency. And since, btw- HR needed to process these-- leads me to wonder whether HR did their due diligence, or--- perhaps the HR staff involved was promoted from the same department?

    SCAN's benefits, bonuses and work/life balance

    Cons

    The company is great, but the Grievance and Appeals Department (GAD) needs to be revamped. A lot of favoritism and illegal promotions and termination of employees. There's a current court case against them for wrongful termination. It's like a high school environment. A lot of gossip and taking sides. Turn over rate is high. They cannot keep a good employee to save their life. Also there is no training at all. They have got multiple corrective actions by CMS probably will get sanctioned once CMS comes a re-audits those corrective actions. Stay far away from this department. They will not hire within and turn over rate is even high with the temp employees.

    Advice to Management

    This advice is for Chris Wing, CEO. Have your ethics/compliance department take a very close look into the GAD. This is the thorn in Your company's side. This department's management team needs to be revamped also this department needs a solid training team.

    This is the fifth mission-oriented organization I have worked for. Truly feels like the employees at SCAN understand that their work has an impact.

    Cons

    Benefit package is not competitive for this market and industry.

    Not really micro manage

    Cons

    Managment not knowledgeable or helpful, too much gossiping, back stabbing, unprofessional. seems like they just hire friends with no prior managment experience.

    Advice to Management

    Get proper training, stop hidding behind the staff , also try helping witgh case loads.
