    Pros

    Good company with lean management and minimal bureaucracy; decision-making occurs at the right levels

    Cons

    HR does not pay attention to pay equity based on TOTAL compensation, including overtime, license premiums, special projects pay, bonuses, etc.

    Advice to Management

    Pay more attention to equitable compensation. For example, supervisors at SCANA are often managers at other companies; managers at SCANA are directors elsewhere.

    Good work environment. Upper management seems to care about employees.

    Pay is a bit lower than other utilities

    Keep informing the employees and making us feel like we are all a part of the organization

    Pros

    Large company. Many opportunities for associates in fields other than clerical. Growing industry.

    Cons

    Clerks may sometimes be limited to promotions. A lot of people are hired based on who they know that works here.

    Decent pay; stable company; flexible work hours

    Very traditional...Management is reluctant to assist in development unless it is within their own dept

    Offer more opportunities for advancement; mgmt needs leadership training and employees need the opportunity to provide feedback on manangement

    Pros

    -Great team environment and employees
    -SCANA truly cares about their customers and wants to do right by them
    -They still offer a pension plan

    Cons

    -Everything was based on production (as most call centers are) so you are sort of bound to your chair
    -If you are a minute late, you will get talked to
    -After the downturn of the economy, they cut a lot of the employee incentives such as parties and giveaways. Also, the bonuses went down.
    -Work becomes monotonous

    Advice to Management

    Try not to cut so many employee morale incentives. After all, a happy employee = high production rate.

    Pros

    SCANA allows their engineers to accept increasing levels of responsibility and autonomy. It is a very rewarding work environment as opposed to supervisors handing down explicit tasks with heavy oversight.

    Cons

    Because of its corporate pay structure, it is difficult for SCANA to quickly elevate its top performing employees.

    Advice to Management

    Device a scheme to recognize top performing employees and keep them within the company.
