    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at SD Convention Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The location is awesome, of course. And I enjoyed interacting with colleagues outside of my department.

    Cons

With very few exceptions, it was difficult working in my department. The environment was overall toxic.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at SD Convention Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You the opportunity to meet and greet lots of people from all over the world. You gain work experience, as Cashier ,mms as a Hospitality Server ,as a customer service representative, they offer on the job experience in a lot of different jobs.even Starbucks to name few more.

    Cons

The least reason is ,at they hire everyone as a part-time on-call. Which means, not everyone will be working, or will be getting hours. They will let you know this at the beginning of the orientation. Everyone is hired as part-time on call employees. That's the bad part about working at the San Diego Convention Center. You have to work your way to the top.

    Advice to Management

It is great to work at the San Diego Convention Center. My only negative aspect, about working for Centerplate San Diego Convention Center,
You really need to work extra extra hard to be noticed and ask them everyday for hours to work.somettimesit happens that, they are willing to make that someone promote to B status and so on.

I have been working at SD Convention Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You cannot pick a better location to work. It's right on the bay and you get to meet new and interesting people almost daily. Almost every employee has a positive attitude.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities are far and few between. The Gap between management and line staff is big and there is no training offered for people who would like to advance within the company.

    Advice to Management

Offer training to help line staff achieve success and move up within the company

    Pros

Great place to work, you need can meet a lot of people.
Staff is very and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Good benefits and paid time off.

    Cons

At times you can get/be over worked. Depends on what time you are working you can have a lot of staff and work that keeps you from getting paperwork done in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Try and make sure there are two supervisors are on all shifts.

    Pros

Great for networking decent pay, and the people that you work with are like family. Also the cafeteria always has good food which is my favorite part!

    Cons

I can't really think of anything at the top of my head.

    Advice to Management

Maybe if they dress up the break room a bit and put some lazy boy couches and flat screens would be nice.

    Pros

Very friendly work environment. Low turnover which is likely due to the center's excellent benefits and vacation time.

    Cons

Little room for growth within the company. Would love to have stayed but no opportunity for advancement.

I have been working at SD Convention Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management allows personal autonomy with scheduling your work day and tasks. Most office personnel have their own large offices. Great benefits, lots of days off, best retirement package available anywhere! Low stress environment

    Cons

some co-workers have worked here for 30 years, due to the fact that its such an easy place to work with great benefits. Some of the older people are slow to adapt to change, and can slow down everyone else. Sometimes there are a lot of unproductive meetings where nothing gets done.

    Advice to Management

IT is too strict in blocking pandora and youtube
