I worked at SDI Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management not involved in day to day operations, less time managements spends interacting with customers is actually beneficial.

    Cons

Lack of ethics, under estimate the intelligence and knowledge of those they are deceptive with.

    Advice to Management

Very disorganized, lack formal training and hire under qualified personnel. Run as two separate organizations, those at corporate office get unmerited accolades while those in the field are disrespected and under appreciated. They operate in best interest of the bottom line, not the customer or service level, Never get to root cause/repair any problems because they will not admit problems exist.

I worked at SDI Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were so helpful. I had great benefits. They provided wonderful surprise lunches.

    Cons

We had an oppertunity to go to the 35 anniversary w'hich was at the Paramount Studio's back lot

    Advice to Management

The only advice I would have to reconize the people who worked hard on a daily basis.

I worked at SDI Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Since it is a small company, you get to learn a variety of things that is not directly related to your job.

    Cons

Bad upper management. They make a lot of mistakes and expect the employees to cover for them. There is literally no planing before a project. The management just expects the employees to "wing it". The only reason they get projects is because they underbid all of their competitors. Very long hours and NO overtime! Some of the employees are very difficult to work with since they have a huge ego.

    Advice to Management

Please hire some real professionals (upper management) to do the job. The lack of competency and reliability is staggering! If not at least compensate the employees a little better

I worked at SDI Systems (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Salary. Good Benefits. Nice people

    Cons

Disconnect with all departments and employees. Accounting department understaffed for company size and needs better qualified and experienced people. Painful to see so many errors and lost money due to a variety of mistakes in accounting, production and contract fulfillment. Shipping department and Inventory is out of control ! (No control!)

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified and experienced accounting clerks and accountants. Inventory has to be correct! Shipping has to be connected to the accounting department every single day, every single shipment, all aspects including the product shipped, quantity, reason, carrier, cross reference PO and or Job #, Cost to ship!!!! Name of person requesting shipment. Contracts must be understood by all and billed to customer accordingly and correctly. Travel, Freight Costs, Permits and Engineering Fees for drawings and Stamps, Foreign Canadian Tax are billable but not conveniently given to accounts receivable billing department.

    Pros

Opportunity to learn a new trade with lots of travel. Must be motivated to learn as much as possible to gain experience in a company that is expanding rapidly.

    Cons

Nobody will give you anything unless you ask. The only real downside is living in hotels. Salary based position means you will be working 60+ hours a week .

    Advice to Management

Training should be handled by qualified personnel without making you feel inferior although my experience is in a related field and I have a bachelors degree, there will be times you feel you aren't given enough credit to perform the tasks that you feel confident you are ready to tackle. It is almost feel like you should keep your head down and play dumb til you are called upon.
