I worked at SEEK full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Big company. Get to meet a lot
Of driven people. Melbourne office is great to work at. A lot more passionate people there

    Cons

Horrible working culture. The company tries to buy you in by giving you heaps of perks but really you're just a another number on a seat.
Can be a bit of a bullying environment at times. You have the popular kids group.
Sydney team members are awful. Not really as friendly as Melbourne. Not inviting place to work when I was in Sydney. A lot of favouritism and not as commercial. Very young team there and not as professional. Can be catty at times.
Heavily drinking culture and a lot of travel required. A bit like a cult.
Seek as lost their direction in the market and are really trying anything to keep their image strong.

    Advice to Management

Melbourne office is a great culture. North Sydney office needs to be managed better. The vibe there is shocking. Really immature environment and very off putting. Managers in Melbourne are very passionate but Sydney is under the radar. Attention is needed

    Pros

On paper this is a great place to work. Seek has great perks and benefits which you can read on the many other reviews. Their new employee induction is great. But once in your team the rest is dependent on your manager. You get to work on exciting projects and participate in hakathons.

    Cons

The culture can be too relaxed and therefore lacking in professionalism
Over emphasis, and yet misunderstanding, on what collaboration is, so you end up spending the entire day in meetings
Senior management is not accountable, does not have a strategy so there isn't direction
Nothing seems to get done in the B2B marketing department
    Massive undermining and passive aggressive
Cultural focus on "fun" means it's more like being in a kindergarten than in a multi billion dollar business
Some senior management promoted way too soon and have become bullies to justify their position
    Direct management not supportive

Just undertake due diligence before accepting a role at SEEK. Every department is different and can be a dream come true or a nightmare.

    Advice to Management

Not everything is perfect, you need to improve and listen to the people who are telling you. The market competition is getting stronger and you cannot have your heads in the sand.

    Pros

A little bit of Flexi hours benefit are given
Leadership team are still in the forming stage

    Cons

    High turnover for performers
Full of hypocrites, low intelligence and bunch of legacies employees and leader making lives miserable for performers to perform
    A total cultural shock!!!!

    Advice to Management

Learn to listen and move with time. The legacy is good but is already a history. Admit it.

I have been working at SEEK full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Trying to incorporate a lot of western startup and Agile culture into the company
    - Caring senior management
    - A lot of learning and role rotation opportunities
    - Open workplace
    - Flexible working hours
    - Relatively stable, good job security

    Cons

    - Too many people changes and structure changes within a year
    - Limited opportunities for employees to advance their career
    - Tech teams are relatively junior and lack of the right mindset and passion to learn new skills
    - The company is still in the midst of integrating both the JobStreet and jobsDB brands in Asia. Two brands were originally competitors and people who worked in there for long still have competing mindset, causing organisational silos and communication inefficiencies.
    - Inappropriate KPI or rewards were given to under-performing colleagues, which had unfortunately encouraged them to stick with their behaviour for job security

    Advice to Management

    - Actively listen and react to feedback from colleagues AT DIFFERENT CAREER LEVELS
    - Be bold to lay off incompetent colleagues or those who do not stick with company values
    - Seriously consider team personality and culture fit during recruitment
    - Provide good mentorship and guidance for colleagues regularly
    - Refine company values (right now they seem hygiene factors to many of us) and market segmentations.
