I have been working at SFJAZZ Center part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

All of the production staff is absolutely top notch and an absolute pleasure to work with. The facilities are gorgeous and well kept.

    Cons

Scheduling and getting enough hours as a part-time employee can be challenging, although to be fair, that's probably the case with many part-time positions.

I worked at SFJAZZ Center as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people, the shows, and the music.

    Cons

Shows center around the weekends so you may lose your weekend.

    Pros

Brand new building with world-class sound. Amazing music programming. Stunning education program. Dedicated to being a community partner. Terrific location in Hayes Valley surrounded by other arts and performing spaces. Lovely restaurant in the lobby.

    Cons

Moving into a new building means new systems need to be built, new ways of operating need to be created and roles are changing. It makes some people uncomfortable that we are no longer a gypsy organization.

    Pros

The music and new facility is great. Location in Hayes Valley make for lunch and after work fun.

    Cons

Management is beyond flawed. Employees are treated with utter contempt. An open office setting allows everyone to view the almost daily mean-spirited, nasty interactions with the founder of the organization. He is prone to rage. At anyone. At anytime. For anything. He can also be physically abusive.
