I worked at SITA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and bonus program is really nice. Bonuses were always paid out while I was there.
    Interesting technologies.
A lot of good people to work with.

    Cons

There is a lot of process and procedures that overwhelm the progress of daily operations. Perhaps they think accomplishments cannot be made without them. A little behind the times in terms of what modern companies are doing. Internal IT is a pain and suffer GOD like complexes.

    Advice to Management

Not everyone deserves a bonus. Those who work the hardest still seem to get the same amount of bonus as those who skate by.

    SITA Response

    Sep 28, 2016 – SVP, Human Resources

Thanks for your views. It’s true that we have work to do in simplifying our processes. Our new CEO has identified this as a focus area. Picking up your point about bonuses, we believe in rewarding ... More

    Pros

Learned a great deal about the air transportation industry; International travel; Ties with colleagues around the world; Diverse set of products; Work life balance was encouraged.

    Cons

Bureaucratic, slow and highly political for a relatively small organization. Often hampered rather than helped by strategic partnership with Orange Business Services.

    Advice to Management

    Streamline business approval board process

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at SITA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    New CEO, Barbara Dalibard
    Interesting Industry
    Global company
    Some excellent co-workers
Company showing signs that it is in the process of working to turn things around on multiple fronts

    Cons

With the current level of fear of change and disruption currently in the air as SITA works to turn things around, there is the concern for reprisal to those who have been pushing for a more cooperative growth mindset culture over the years from some leadership and veteran employees not eager to embrace this foreign way of working.

Changing the culture of a company is an incredibly daunting and often painful task

    Advice to Management

As the author of a previous overall critical review of SITA that has ranked highly, feel obligated to post a follow up after meeting new CEO. As during her meet and greet, she acknowledged some of the core issues with the company and inspired some hope for much-needed changes. Some of the notable being:
    Culture severely lacking in trust
    Company lacking in strategic alignment
Need to re-evaluate solution portfolio and SITA's goals
    Simplification

While I see many challenges ahead for SITA to avoid following in the steps of Yahoo and Kodak, hearing Barbara speak was a breath of fresh air. I for one wish her the best and am looking forward to hearing more of her vision for the company.

"Great possibilities With Change In Upper Management Mindset"

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at SITA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Dedicated staff even though little appreciation shown
    Good benefits
Good opportunity to interact with people globally

    Cons

Tunnel vision by upper management. Each one has different objectives, many times in direct opposition to sister business units. Objectives tied to annual bonus leads to a focus on product release, with little regard for readiness.
Much lip service to company values and transparency, but no improvements have been seen. People are not encouraged to be open with opinions and honest in town hall meetings. Upper managers try to control the message and focus on keeping the lower levels from discussing issues of great importance. Speaking to HR in the past has been useless as HR was always biased and not willing to truly listen. With change in staff, there is hope this will change. Very little opportunity to actually meet and talk to our customers, this is a privilege kept for very few. And those few greatly abuse travel opportunities. Customer conferences have stopped, leading to more distance between Sita staff and the customers they do all possible to help improve business bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who know, not the privileged senior managers who employ limos and lavish dinners and hotels. The workers who see customer impact and effort can help with true vision. The SLT should focus on reality, not what the VPs and directors are trying to pass as state of the business unit. But workers will not speak up if there remains a very real possibility of retribution.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

This company is great for people who like working with colleagues from around the world, and the air transport industry is fascinating.

    Cons

Layers upon layers of bureaucracy make it difficult to get to quick decisions. CEO is way out of touch with needs in the geo, and there are entire solution lines that should have been sold off years ago.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your front line people when developing strategic plans, objectives and goals. Recognize that more money and staff won't change fundamental challenges with selected solutions and stop throwing good money after bad.
