    Pros

Great work environment. Co-workers are great people.

    Cons

Upper management has lots of politics. They are more concerned about the ROI than about the employee.

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing and start investing in the employees. The code quality returned from outsourcing is very poor and the company keeps on throwing money away by hiring them. If they spend that money in investing into their employees that would be much better. The contractors know that they will not be maintaining the software and they don't care what state the code is in as long something seems to be working. Most of the new development is done outside of the company while maintenance is handled locally. But that means that the local employees are only doing code cleanup for someone else junk.

    Pros

International company. Decent pay. Good benefits. Some good travel opportunities. Colleagues, for the most part, are good to work with.

    Cons

Lack of growth opportunities. Upper management not the best in supporting initiatives. Tries to window-dress issues without putting hard effort into fixing them. Very hierarchical management structure prevents middle managers from making a real impact. Work/Life balance, if you want to move up, becomes less and less possible.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your mid-rank employees - a lot of good ideas are there to improve performance. Don't be so afraid of change - sometimes the boat needs to be rocked. If you don't make changes, you'll continue to lose good people.

I have been working at SITA full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits in US, though this is likely to change. Convenient location in ATL, the new Braves stadium is being built less than a mile away so this will cause lots of traffic

    Cons

Corporate direction changes like the wind, always being told by CEO that we must conserve cash by ramping up collections and slowing down payments. Management structure is confused and constantly changing, it is very unclear who direct lines of reporting are. For technical positions there is a very badly explained career path with no rules for advancement and external training is frowned upon. Due to the confusion over structure managers can never supply direct answers and are often winging it when questioned on Corporate direction.

    Advice to Management

Define and stick to a Company ethos, structure and Mission statement, make it clear, concise and most importantly stick to it.

I have been working at SITA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company truly values the people who work there, and will work hard to help you advance your career with them. There is a very low turnover rate, I'd say 10 years is about the medium tenure for the professional staff, at the upper levels 25~30 years or more is common.
A surprising number of people who do leave return after a few years. Periodically they have hiring freezes, despite the open listings on the career page.

    Cons

The company moves at it's own pace, and HR is no exception. Don't be surprised if things go quiet for several weeks before you get an offer, just keep in touch with HR to make sure is on track. Once you do get in, you will find that the low turnover means few opportunities to advance in your local team. The trick to getting promoted is to move laterally into a different department or division, and this is supported and encouraged by HR and management.

    Advice to Management

    None.
