I worked at SKLZ full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Cool brand in an awesome building with some amazing people working for it. The company had a terrible President who ruined it for 3+ years with his dictator style of leadership, favoritism, serious lack of strategy and vision, and just in ability to operate more than a few months at a time. A lot of great people either left on their own or were forced to leave because of him. The day he was fired should be listed as a company holiday. The company now has an amazing new leader and hope is back!

    Cons

There is still some favoritism in the company that needs to go as well as poor communication across departments. Technology is beyond outdated and makes no sense at times. There needs to be more of an investment into R&D and product.

    Advice to Management

Lean on some of your better leaders. You have some great talent that is not being utilized. Get better systems and stop trying to do too much. Focus on fewer things and be great at some things as opposed to just good at a couple and poor at a lot.

I worked at SKLZ full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People you work with are good people who want to be successful and improve the process. Great facility and work out area on premise.

    Cons

Mixed messages from management on a daily operations perspective. One day it is this initiative and the next day it is something new without any planning or fairwarning to staff.

    Advice to Management

Pick your leaders, give them a chance and stick to the plan versus changing on a whim. The team would appreciate consistency and direction.

    I worked at SKLZ full-time

    Pros

Some very cool people work for this company. Met a lot of good friends. Awesome gym to work out in.

    Cons

Terrible management. Had a director who didn't know what our team actually did or what the process of processing and shipping orders consisted of. When we had meetings he would get caught up on the stupidest details such as what color the bar graph was instead of actually focusing on issues that were costing us money. Didn't even know some of his own employees names. No room for upward movement unless you have been at the company for 8 years. Also, if you do move up, don't expect your pay to reflect the change.

    Advice to Management

Know your employees and what they do. They will respect you for it.

    Pros

-Amazing gym to work out in

    Cons

Multiple layoffs and resignations within the last few months. No understanding of work/life balance and zero career growth opportunity. Management makes poor choices and makes the lower level employees pay for it.

    Advice to Management

Own up to your mistakes. Poor forecasting by inadequate management is leading to the downfall of the company. Start investing in the right software and systems and maybe the company can dig out of the hole that it's in, but it's probably too late. Being "bold" is not always the answer.
