I worked at SL Green Realty full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Opportunity to rise up in ranks depending on individual effort to going above and beyond and/or favoritism.

    Cons

Promotions and employee salaries are strongly correlated with sexism, favoritism and social hierarchy. Employees are treated as disposable. Upper management gets off on criticizing employees' work publicly. This results in high performers doubting their ability and therefore producing a lower quality work.

    Advice to Management

Focus on bigger picture items to benefit the company. Work on building your employees up rather than tearing them down.

I have been working at SL Green Realty (Less than a year)

    Pros

The salaries are competitive. The work environment is fast paced with a work hard and play hard motto. Continuing education RPA & FMA programs are encouraged and paid for by the company. Favorites are moved quickly up the ladder.

    Cons

There is a large accountability factor so much of your time is filling out spreadsheets and providing data on very stringent deadlines.

    Advice to Management

    Keep those stock prices rising!

I worked at SL Green Realty (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked in the IT department as a temp to assist the Telecom Manager. The IT team had about ten members at the time. I'm not sure if the same team is there, but everyone was really helpful. I was able to take on new projects and get exposure to new tech skills. In fact, this was my first real exposure to enterprise-level database work, which is now a big part of my current role. SL Green seemed to have allocated a good amount of budget to the IT department. Overall, a good experience. Wouldn't be where I am without it.

    Cons

I did see a lot of turnover within the department around the time I was leaving. I'm not sure why. I wish I could give more insight, but I have no knowledge of the compensation package SL Green offers to full-time employees.

    Advice to Management

Always invest in technology, it is so crucial not to fall behind. Organization of data is key, especially with regard to operational costs and risk management analysis. The system created by database developer(s) is extremely valuable. Continue to invest in this area. Note: this may be outdated, since I worked here in 2013. They may very well do this already.

    Pros

Company is small enough to engage in multiple aspects of the business and to see the results of your contributions.

    Cons

Company policy is to keep running costs low via. minimal staffing, resulting in consistently long hours and unrealistic project time allowances.

I worked at SL Green Realty part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at SL Green Realty was a great place to work because it took less than an hour to get there, great hours, great learning experience. Working right above 42nd Street Grand Central Station was very busy and challenging but met great people and took all advice given.

    Cons

I was only given a two month trail, some nights i'd stay later than expected and was expected to be at work early the next day.

    Advice to Management

Allow at least three month trial

I have been working at SL Green Realty (More than a year)

    Pros

The money was great, and some of the people were cool. I also got a sweet bonus every year.

    Cons

The corporate life is draining and I'm more inspired in a creative environment.

    Advice to Management

I would say if you like money this is a great job, and you can grow with in the company.

    Advice to Management

Improve company culture by eliminating employees who create this negative culture
