Training experience thus far
Jul 8, 2018 - Field Specialist Trainee in Jenks, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The pay is good for my position and department at $21.63/hour plus overtime pay. Most people are getting between 72 and 84 hours a week so very good pay all together. The benefits available through Schlumberger are amazing and it is stupid not to utilize the discounted stock purchase program if it’s available to you.
Cons
You have to walk on eggshells for various reasons through training. Get used to hearing how you’ll be let go if you screw up when doing XYZ.

Great Pay and you get to see some really cool things you never would if you weren't in the oil industry.
Cons
Awful work life balance. Required to be on call all the time. No set schedule so can never plan to do things.

If you need the work experience badly then do it otherwise avoid this role.
Feb 2, 2021 - Field Engineer D&M in Oklahoma City, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Extensive HSE training - On Job and Classroom training - Online training modules - Looks good on a resume so leverage it to leave asap - 6month - yearly promotion possibilities (same job just more responsibilities in the field and a little more pay but still have no work-life balance)
Cons
-They pay as salary starting out so the pay (low per hour worked) and hours (13hr days weeks non-stop) are terrible, you would make more per hour working at Walmart, McDonald's etc. -Online training is extensive but often not job-relevant and you have to complete it on your personal time with no financial compensation. -Most job skills and training is D&M specific to running only SLB tools and has little to no outside engineering application other than other D&M jobs

Sales Engineer at Schlumberger
Apr 24, 2020 - Sales Engineer in Oklahoma City, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The pay was competitive and Schlumberger is extremely well perceived by their client base.
Cons
It is a little bit of a "yes man" culture that suppresses out of the box thinking and problem solving at lower levels.

Field Engineer, Sales Engineer and Account Management
Dec 1, 2014 - Account Manager in Calgary, ABRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Schlumberger is well run company with many job opportunities under one roof - technical, sales, marketing, management. Women are welcomed in this company. Salaries are typical for the oilfield (high paying for field work and average for office work). I almost always was able to get vacation when I wanted it for over my time there. Training is one of the best in the industry and is well regarded if you leave the company. The culture is a 'make it happen' culture and hard work is expected - for example you are almost always 'on call' except perhaps when you are on vacation out of cell phone range. On the other hand if you have a personal appointment during the work week management is flexible with that. You can expect to stay in one roll for 1 to 3 years (can be longer if that is what you prefer). The more you are willing to move and gain experience the quicker you get promoted if that is your goal.
Cons
The work-life balance can be tilted toward work - especially in field jobs (but you do get paid well for that). Like many large companies politics can play a roll that you don't appreciate - most noticeable in mid level management jobs. And, like many companies benefits have been eroding (company cars, free parking, some health benefits such as dental).
