    Pros

Compensation and time off. Several good senior managers

    Cons

CEO is making poor business decisions

  2. "Great people, but a political culture that's not focused on sustaining professional development"

    Pros

    Opportunity for advancement
    Great co-workers
Exposure to multiple industries, greater responsibilities
    Work hard/ play hard mentality

    Cons

Low compensation with regard to competitors
Philadelphia-centered culture was often political vs practical in decision making
Virtually no active encouragement or support for professional development by management, unless a client was showing interest in a new service

    Advice to Management

Open and forthright information sharing with your teams, and recognizing consistent performance objectively could be improved.

    Pros

Work life balance is spectacular! No other employer like it in this area. Very flexible with taking time off.

    Cons

Reviews (promotions) are not that fair. Some people can be sneakily cut-throat.

    Advice to Management

    "Semi-complacent"

    Pros

Flexible hours, many extremely helpful employees (without whom I would most-likely not continue employment), many of my coworkers have become great friends

    Cons

No raises in 2 years, many "cloak and dagger " processes, managing directors are primarily focused on keeping their bottom lines in check without regard to employee morale

    Advice to Management

Saying that the firm is competitive when it comes to salaries is a complete farce. Understand the strengths of employees, find a direction, and dedicate both sales AND employee training in these areas. Picking up the new software suite/buzzword methodology/trendy product and attempting to extract every possible sales lead out of something in which we have zero experience does not work.

  6. "Not so SMART"

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

There are a number of bright, hard-working professionals.
Employees are given a great deal of autonomy.
    Compensation is average to above.

    Cons

There does not seem to be any coherent reality-based business plan.
There is a great deal of finger-pointing when goals are not reached, but little attempt to understand why. At SMART, finding someone to blame is more beneficial than trying to fix a problem.

    Advice to Management

A clean understanding of the firm's strengths and weaknesses, including where and how SMART can compete in the marketplace, should be a top priority.

    Pros

Great place to work if you are a college grad or looking to gain experience on your resume. For the most part, place is very laid back and you can establish a good relationship with management if you do good work. People are friendly there and management takes care of their employees if you have a good track record with clients.

    Cons

Economy struggles can be reasons for these points:
    - not competitive salary for those who've been here for a long time.
    - does not compensate well for hard work
    - can travel extensively and working more than the usual 40 hour week.

    Advice to Management
