      Pros

I had the ability to intern at SMGi this passes summer and I really enjoyed the work environment. I was given the opportunity to work alongside team leads and management while still having freedom to work on my own. I was treated as an equal even though I was only an intern and was given countless opportunities to thrive and learn. It is a fun work environment with people who push you to succeed while still assisting you in the development process. All in all, I really liked it and learned alot about sales and working with a large client.

      Cons

Working on weekends can be annoying but its when the sales are highest.

Thank you for your review of our internship program. I am glad you got to see our great work environment and team while gaining valuable hands on experience in your field of study. We will take your advice and continue helping recent colleges grads and students still in school with worthwhile paid internships. Thanks again!

        Pros

SMGI empowers their people and cultivates individuals to help them grow into the smart, innovative people they are. Teamwork is important here, and everyone has a great dynamic with each other. It’s a company filled with people who are passionate about their own success and growing the company. Ideas are welcome, encouraged, and listened to. They care about your success and really give you every opportunity to grow. It’s a very positive and exciting environment to be in, and a unique company to be a part of.

        Cons

Hard work, which technically isn't a con, but it can seem like one to someone who has trouble envisioning their long term goals. Definitely not the place for someone who lacks ambition. There is a lot of room to differentiate and get noticed at SMGI, people who aren't afraid to work hard thrive here!

          Pros

I've been a valued team member at SMGI now for 5 years, during this time I've had the wonderful opportunity to learn Sales and Marketing from the ground floor, including many of the back office mechanisms that make up this fascinating company. My personal, and professional growth has increased year over year along with my compensation and responsibilities. Where else can you work hand in hand with the Directors (M.J. Frumin and Justin Jaworski) of a profitable, rapidly expanding company on a daily basis?! Where else is the voice of the employee given power?! When I first started employees were sub-contractors 1099 commission only. SMGI leadership listened to the needs and concerns of their employees; now SMGI offers W-2's, weekly paid salary minimums and competitive medical package benefits to all new hires. SMGI continues to invest in their employees ongoing during their time here with perpetual training, mentoring and constant reinforcing of the core values, 'Extraordinary people. Extraordinary results.' With that said, this is not for everyone. If you want an easy, be lazy, do nothing job, then this isn't going to be a right fit for you. If you want opportunity, personal and professional growth, mentoring, extensive training and OPPORTUNITY to be a better YOU, then this is where you should apply. Also someone couldn't pay me enough to write a review that I didn't believe in 100%. Don't make a prejudgment based on a few bad apples, inaccurate reviews, or someone that was here for a week, but couldn't make the cut. Don't give voice to ignorance, make your own decision based on your own experience here. YOU'RE the best judge of what will be a positive influence for the progression of your career. Thank you for your time to read this review based on my personal time here over the last 5 years. Hopefully you'll find this helpful when deciding on SMGI.

          Cons

Balancing daily challenges that arise as in any job.

            Pros

If you have a student mentality and a strong work ethic, this is the best place to launch a career and get into management. SMGI has some great clients and the corporate culture is amazing. From the beginning, you are given a lot of responsibility and the freedom to run with it. The office environment is flexible and cool, and your voice is definitely heard and appreciated here.

            Cons

As a young, growing company, there aren't a lot of systems in place, which makes "office-types" uncomfortable. The hours can be long at times, so forget the "9-to-5" thinking that your grandparents were used to.

              Pros

At SMGI, they really work with every employee and actually care about everyone individually. If you are struggling with any aspect, they try to help you. Crew leaders and coworkers care about your personal life and problems. There is great opportunity for growth and management. As long as you work hard you can really go far with this company. They also don't hold a few past mistakes against you, if you are qualified. This company is also like a community and can be a lot of fun including nights out together. You can learn a lot with this company and I loved my time there.

              Cons

The job is straight commission and does take strong people skills and good work ethic. Besides the hours and that, I still think it is a good company.

                Pros

I have been a Territory Manager working on the Verizon campaign in the Potomac Region (DC/MD/VA) for 2 years now. I work in the MDU segment of the business. This is a true pay for performance organization that rewards top producers. Unlike most organizations, there is a clearly defined path for upward mobility and this is by no means a 'dead-end job'. SMGI has a proven methodology/track record and is well respected by the client (Verizon). Potomac has amazing opportunity ahead and those who get involved will be the benefactors!

                Cons

If you are not a self-starter and need to be told every move to make in your day, you will not succeed.

                  Pros

SMGI is dedicated to growth and development inside and outside of the organization. SMGI is focused on the health and wealth of employees and their families. As a company we generously contribute and volunteer to many local charities, foundations, and groups in need. Philanthropy and giving back is fundamentally valued by our entire company. We have fun winning together in the community and at work. My favorite 'pro' is our one-on-one training with our senior management team. We are able to freely express our concerns and elevate our participation in creating new avenues for our business. Our senior management team listens and welcomes creative ideas.

                  Cons

We have many leaders who demand more direction and individualized training from Area Management. We do not have yearly performance reviews.

                  2

Hi, thanks for your review! I wanted to respond to your comment about yearly performance reviews and provide you with a some reasons why SMGI does not have this type of structure. First, the compensation package we provide our employees is highly merit based compared to other companies. Sure, we provide a competitive base salary or hourly rate to remain competitive with the broader employment market however our overall compensation structure is highly progressive thereby allowing top performers to be greatly rewarded financially. This is a stark contrast to many companies where everyone makes roughly the same. In these companies, a top performer might earn 10% more than a bottom performer even though the top performer may well have multiple times the responsibility/influence (team/organization size) and/or directly/indirectly generate multiple times the revenue/metrics. These types of regressive compensation structures just don’t make sense to us! Finally, we believe that our leaders need to have continual and frequent discussions with their direct reports concerning performance. In companies with yearly performance reviews, generally the manager waits until the yearly review to outline all/most of their thoughts regarding an employee’s performance. We want our leaders and employees to be comfortable with having these types for discussions to facilitate faster development of the employee and to create an environment in which openness and transparency are key values to our leader’s relationship with their employees.

                    Pros

At SMGi I learned self-worth and how to work hard to reach goals. SMGi feels very 'homey' and at this company everyone is very connected. At SMGi the employees who work the hardest are the employees that are rewarded. One of the best things about SMGi is that the management is very flexibleest things about SMGi is that the management is very flexibleest things about SMGi is that the management is very flexible when it comes to schedules.

                    Cons

This job tends to have no boundaries when it comes to personal time being separate from work. Because it is commission based, if there is an opportunity to make a sale on a day off or after hours you would only be hurting yourself if you let that opportunity pass.

                      Pros

Unlike most retail companies that do sales and marketing as a third party vendor, SMGI offers a competitive starting salary and a commission income. Between the two types of income the earning potential starting off is really up to how hard you want to work. I've worked in the business management field for nearly fifteen years and I would have to say that there are not many young thriving companies that can compete with the excellence of SMGI's management staff. The management staff is courteous, goal oriented, well trained, and more than willing to offer help to anyone starting out with the company at any time of day or night. The training is above par for the feild of sales! I would recommend this company to anyone with a drive for business and a dream of having a long and lucrative career.

                      Cons

There are not really any downsides to starting out with this company. They give you every tool you need to be successful within the field and do a great job at empowering their employees. It all depends on your drive and motivation.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. SMGI understands that a big part of working is having income stability, therefore ALL of its positions offer a base salary or competitive hourly wage PLUS commissions and/or bonus options. Most of our employees earn a decent living and have opportunity for economical and career growth within the company. SMGI Area Managers and Team Leaders are trained to motivate, direct, coach, mentor, and basically assist in any way possible to the success of each and every team member regardless of time of day or night. When you spend so much time working it is nice to be able to enjoy who you're working with by participating in team nights or team building activities that SMGI facilitates on a regular basis. Most of our managers have strong working relationships with team members that sometimes translates into lifelong friendships. SMGI currently only has retail campaigns out of the Pittsburgh region, yet management's dedication is the same throughout all our markets. When you succeed SMGI succeeds! We welcome you onto the SMGI team/family and are pleased that you feel you're in the right company for your career path. At any time you may have discussions with your direct manager or you're welcomed to provide feedback off of social media via feedback@salesandmarketinggroup.com.

Hello! I have two interviews, one tomorrow & another one on Friday. I'm preparing cause I feel that I'm not very good at them & I hate that. So, I'm researching, taking notes & praying a whole lot lol! Is it okay to refer to notes during an interview? Should I ask interviewer if it's okay? I wanna do my best & feel it'll help some ... a little more confidence I guess!

What is a normal/common resume length for c2c/consultant roles in tech? What about a fte resume? My contract role resume used to be 5-6pages, this was 4years ago, prior to covid. Not sure if this is still a norm. Meanwhile my fte resume is concise, 2pages long. I have 10years of exp for reference.
