I worked at SNC-Lavalin Constructors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work and wonderful people. Interesting work. Best supervisor I ever had the pleasure of working with.

    Cons

Work flow got slow and I was laid off. I really don't have any Cons with working at SNC. It's a great place that cares about their employees.

    Advice to Management

    Wish economy was better.

    Pros

Company has lots of resources to support large scale projects. Opportunity to work almost anywhere in the world.

    Cons

Because it is such a large company there is often too much overhead and administration making it difficult to accomplish work

    Advice to Management

Streamline administrative process, make new hire feel more welcome and work to make them feel like part of the team

I have been working at SNC-Lavalin Constructors full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Snc-Lavalin is full of wonderful individuals who are bright and talented and make the overall day to day experience tolerable

    Cons

Considering how bright and fun the people here are, they can't seem to get anything right. The company the last few years has been mismanaged, the leadership is practically non existent and communication between departments is actually non existent. There are a lot of chefs in the kitchen none of whom seem to know what's actually going on.

    Advice to Management

The executive team needs to be removed, there is too much old enron blood. SNC-Lavalin Constructors needs a fresh perspective with fresh eyes and an entirely new team to lead this once great team to victory again.

    Pros

The people are very nice and I have made some good friends at the company. The Expat employees are cared for very much even if it is hard for them to see from Management.

    Cons

HR is not about support but about being strategic. Management is completely blind to the abilities of the employees and enjoys the employee who sucks up the most and rewards it regularly as they have very low self-esteme and do not appreciate the employees who really do the work and that is in all departments. Management is the largest down fall for this company.

    Advice to Management

Take a look around at who really does the work and who just does the talk.

    Pros

The pay and benifits are very good. The company employees a lot of smart and competent people. Working for SNC is a great place to pick up knowledge. The company is involved in intersting work. The work environment is a good mix of field and technical people.

    Cons

The management make some strange decisions, and doesn't always listen to their people. Starting out in new position with the company can be difficult, because not a lot of guidance is given.

    Advice to Management

Clarify what people should be doing. Create a way keep people accountable.

I have been working at SNC-Lavalin Constructors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

International exposure and opportunities to learn
    Nice colleagues to work with

    Cons

    Salary below market average
    No work-life balance or flexibility
    Lots of non-paid overtime
    Burnout alert

    Advice to Management

Benchmark with other companies more often to learn about compensation and additional perks offered! Only then SNC will be able to better attract and even better retain talents.
