I have been working at SOS Children's Villages International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent work environment. The team makes it all worth it. Convenience of having professional foster parents and homes right next to the office. Working with children and their families is amazing.

    Cons

The pay needs to be higher. Hard to build a good amount of vacation time. It's incredibly difficult working with parents who are unable or unwilling to be reunited with their children.

    Current Employee - House Parent

I have been working at SOS Children's Villages International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice house . Foster parents all live in the same area.

    Cons

Too many to mention. You are told you will get 8 hours of relief a week but the relief parents they hire will very frequently cancel at the last minute. They seem to spend alot of money on administration and building new offices instead of putting it into helping the foster parents. They push services for the kids but give you very little assistance in getting those services. Office is consumed by petty conflicts instead of focusing on the well being of the kids. If you are like working 24 hours a day 7 days a week without even the 8 hours they promise you then this is what you should expect as a foster parent. They have a very low retention rate for foster parents and relief parents because the system is broken.
