I have been working at SOSi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They are evolving as a company and being transparent in the process. They invest in and appreciate their employees. Personally, I've had a lot of opportunities to be involved in the community and go to trainings, and I feel like my career development is a priority. I also really enjoy the blossoming culture here, where HR and Internal Communications are working hard to make the SOSi experience a good one.

    Cons

There could be a tad more diversity in upper management.

I have been working at SOSi full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great staff and middle management. Most of these people are working above and beyond company expectations. They are consummate professionals who legitimately know the Federal contracting business.

    Cons

The owners and some of upper management are a stark reminder of why this company is barely staying afloat. The founder of SOSi was a trailblazer, an example for women everywhere who believe anything is possible and dreams do come true in America. Her son is another story. He has just about destroyed this company's favorable domestic and global reputation. Micro managing every aspect of the business. Insulting clients, government officials and the people who work for the greater good of SOSi. The shear number of talented, intelligent people who have left or were unjustly terminated is a testament to the short sighted, selfish, arrogant mentality of the CEO.

I worked at SOSi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This company made me realize money is not the reason to take a job and helped me be pickier when choosing my next job. The general staff is a pleasure to work with and very hard working

    Cons

Where to begin... 1.) Most people in upper management are military men with little to no respect for the staff they manage 2.) Everyone person is considered easily replaceable 3.) We go after bids we have NO shot at winning and LIE about our capabilities in said proposals 4.) Managers micromanage and have no real concept of putting together a winning proposal. Their way is the right way and nobody else has an opinion 5.) When we lose proposals we are told it is because of price but find out later it is because of compliance issues, yet nobody is held accountable. Pricing meetings are attended by VPs who just throw out random numbers they feel are adequate for the positions 6.) Staff turnover throughout the entire company is incredibly high 7.) We lie on proposals and to team members what our actual employee number is as well as what our revenue for the company is 8.) Upper management throws lower staff members under the bus for mistakes made instead of taking accountability for their work 9.) Never produced a winning proposal in the 6 months I worked there 10.) When we did self evaluations we were told a 3 means you're doing a great job, 4 means you're out of this world and 5 means you're sleeping with the boss. Found out later every manager reduced the ratings because we didn't have a budget to give out raises or cost of living increases 11.) Upper management will do whatever the CEO wants because if they are not YES MEN they will be fired. 12.) During exit interviews the company will ask leaving staff to write a nice review because the CEO checks Glassdoor every day, half of the good reviews on this website are written by current staff trying to fill vacancies.

I have been working at SOSi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only pros I can come up with are that I have the opportunity to work overseas and they have an okay benefits package.

    Cons

Where do I start? First of all, I have been in the contracting world for over a decade in both deployed and non-deployed environments and I have to say this company here is by far the most selfish, unforgiving, and incompetent company I have ever worked for in the defense industry. Let me explain...I was hired on to work an overseas contract as an analyst that required at least 10 years experience to even qualify for the position and their offer for the overseas position was on the low side for experience requirements, but not unreasonable...no relocation assistance for the family and I besides airfare. I worked there for a year when our contract came up for a low-cost rebid. SOSi asked us analysts for our experience and resumes to help win the contract, and they did win...but proceeded to cut all our salaries about 30% and cut tuition assistance for our children...on top of that we were repeatedly lied to by upper management as to our status that was required for us to remain in the country and would dodge pointed important questions and issues or ignore us completely. Every request that has been made for simple exceptions such as charging the company for mandatory work-related situations were immediately denied by upper management. The only time we got a response from upper management was for them to deny requests. When we did get any news or visits from upper management, they were defensive in nature and they would make excuses for things like the pay cuts and overall crappy treatment such as, " this is the best you're going to get here in the contracting world right now, it's like this everywhere". I'm not even going to get started on how their payroll system is so lacking technologically that it makes me wonder if this company hasn't been circling the bankrupcy drain for a while now. Also, it's the holidays and we didn't receive anything but a horribly deceptive holiday email sent from the CEO on how great things are looking from his perspective...sickening. No card, small gift or even a holiday dinner...just a pay cut. Thanks.
