    Pros

The salaries are fair and the working conditions are fair

    Cons

Everything else is really really bad, no communication, lots of micromanagement.

    Advice to Management

Let departments work within themselves rather than have the families linked to CEO be reponsible for all the interaction between departments

    Pros

In terms of compensation, SPX pays well, and the benefits are good. The company does business in a number of diverse areas which helps balance out things during unstable times.

    Cons

Management tends to be insular, close-minded and resort to old school ways of doing things. There's a strong old boys network at work. They are clueless when it comes to the importance of marketing, social media, diversity and other disciplines that are essential in working in a global market place. This doesn't bode well for a long-term future for the company.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the box. Bring in fresh blood -- particularly in the areas of investor relations and public relations.

I have been working at SPX full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good 401k plan. Nice coworkers.

    Cons

At Tulsa the pay is low and people are constantly getting fired. Those that are still there are looking for another job where they can feel good about their employer. The president doesn't have a clue how to run a company. There is no opportunity to move up, you might make a lateral move but that is it.

    Advice to Management

Tulsa is always losing money and if you want to change that, start at the top. Put someone in that knows how to run a company and treat employees with respect.

    Pros

Freedom on the road for work.

    Cons

Everything else. Too many reports and micromanagement. The US Market was the main producer for the company but they wanted us to sell in UK way and we lost sales.

    Advice to Management

    Listen and trust your employees.

    Pros

Fantastic products with some truly devoted employees.

    Cons

SPX has dismantled a company that had a bright future. No clear direction from upper management with zero accountability.

    Advice to Management

Fire the captain (s) get people in there that will lead and fix the ship. ClydeUnion was a fantastic place to work... Sad to see SPX get let down the path by VP's who do not seem to care about the future of the company.

    Pros

Personal freedom to organise your work. Good pay and benefits. Non other pros found... sorry

    Cons

Don't be innovative because your ideas are not appreciated. Very political and yes-man mentality. Corporate rules, even if you disagree and try to sell your idea; take it ot leave it... I left! There is no team but just a group of individuals fighting for their own benefit.

    Advice to Management

Wake up! A company is not a political party. Listen to your employees. Walk the talk and lead by example.

I have been working at SPX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Professional people from all over the world, modern, co-workers willing to train you so that you can enjoy flexible scheduling for family needs and things like that.

    Cons

Dependent on email to avoid blame internally rather than add value for customers. Due to the number of people let go, it is safer to document that you told someone else about the problem in multiple emails and emails are overused. Functions are so fragmented that you may not be able to resolve a simple issue from end to end without multiple levels of approval or you lack program access for no apparent reason.

    Advice to Management

If you hire someone to deliver a result for you, allow them the resources and ability to build a team to do it rather than stick him with a repetitive task. It's not the leadership role you claimed to be hiring for. It's a waste of everyone's energy and talent. If you don't need leaders, then don't hire these kinds of people.

I worked at SPX (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fast paced work environment. Variety of projects (although, in the end its Packaging design for tool kits for the automotive, ag,recreational markets).

    Cons

The almighty buck is king even more important than customer satisfaction. Report only on gross revenue (to please share holders). Management must be "yes" people. Each year, no money available for training. Reviews poorly executed and form would continously be changed throughout every calendar year.

    Advice to Management

Good luck! Bosch purchased this particular business unit from SPX. They aren't publicly traded and have a very low tolerance for the normal, everyday accepted and expected practices of the past.

    Pros

No reason. Serious ethics issues. Pay isn't terrible but you have to sell your soul along the way.

    Cons

Long tenured teammates threatened by intelligent new people. Don't support diversity/inclusion. Intense politics

    Advice to Management

By remaining at SPX you are hindering the growth and success. Retire now.
