I have been working at SRS Distribution full-time

    Pros

    Small company, great health/insurance benefits

    Cons

Succession/advancement plan is not clear, don't hold to timelines for employees to progress

    Advice to Management

Location management needs better training to manage teams, many are promoted without training on how to treat/manage people.

I have been working at SRS Distribution full-time

    Pros

Plenty of independence to self motivated drivers that "get the job done".

    Cons

Easy to feel stuck in your position. Work with guys who have been working same job for 35 years making same or very similar wage.

    Advice to Management

Provide more oppourtunities for employees who show promise and interest to increase their earring potential and the value they wish to add to the marketplace.

I have been working at SRS Distribution full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sits on 121, easy to get to. Lots of branches if there is a way to transfer and work at branch level. Pay is decent but definitely could be more competitive.

    Cons

Doesn’t seem to be much opportunity for movement within corporate. The company itself is great but it’s not one of those “just get in then you can build a career” type of places. Lots of focus on college recruiting for branch managers but nothing in place for current employees at the corporate level. Hard for corporate depts to keep up with the acquisitions. Not a lot of transparency between departments.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to find time to pay more attention to lower management & be more hands on because are needs that aren’t being met. Don’t allow you’re employees to be treated as a commodity. There are too many departments who have employees who are just miserable & it’s difficult to watch at times. Hiring family in the same department seems to be a bad idea unless you’re able to let them know in advance it’s expected to be temporary. There is a lot of unnecessary backlash on hourly due to the stress & load on managers. This company prides itself in atmosphere & work/life balance but it’s just not there once you get inside.
No flexibility. Many could even work from home but aren’t allowed. Treatment isn’t equal across the board. Your experience is going to be determined by the manager.

I worked at SRS Distribution (More than a year)

    Pros

Successful company/pay is competitive/stock options available

    Cons

Fast pace is unrealistic. It is a "what have you done for me lately" environment. Minimal upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

You should cultivate your employees and not discard them like yesterday's news paper. Be realistic in your expectations and back up your employees against field's assumptions.

I will admit that the work at SRS is fast-paced. We tell all candidates during the interview process so no one is surprised. I’m here nearly five years and there are few dull moments. There are... More

    Pros

Overtime available, Great people to work with, Management gives you freedom to employees as long as their doing their job (no micromanagement).

    Cons

Can get a hectic workload if they get backed up. Don't work here if you consider yourself lazy or would rather enjoy waiting on the clock to run out while sitting around.
