No longer a great company to work for since acquisition
Nov 14, 2016 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Great people, its what made this company before SS&C acquired Advent. - Great location next to Caltrain.
Cons
- SS&C has put their stamp on Advent, therefore Advent is no longer an enjoyable place to work at. - SS&C has eliminated/reduced a lot of the perks and benefits that made Advent great, and as a result a lot of great talent is no longer with the company, or looking for other opportunities.

It's not "ADVENT" anymore
Sep 12, 2015 - Average Joe Employee in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Smart, talented people in the San Francisco office - unfortunately people are starting to leave.
Cons
It's not 'ADVENT' anymore. SSnC acquired the company and is slowly taking the reasons why the great employees are still around - people will start leaving. I predict a mass exodus in the next 3 to 6 months. Benefits that used to be very competitive in the Bay Area have changed or will change come 2016. I'm not sure how the company can attract good candidates in such a hot market. Higher management that are still around are motivated by their retention bonus and equity with SSnC. There's almost no reason why a regular employee will stay, no retention bonus, benefits suck, the job market outside of Advent is hot, good long time employees are gone or are leaving. The flexibility has been taken away by the same management who want to look good with their new bosses at SSnC, same management who gets retention bonus and equity - they are motivated for sure.

Advent no longer great
Jun 21, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Was once a great place to work with great people and great benefits. Once they were acquired, that all changed.
Cons
Advent used to be a great place to work. They even won a few awards stating that. But once they were acquired by SS&C, they went downhill. Certain benefits went away. Others became more expensive. There was a mass exodus and most of the people who knew anything about the processes and procedures left. Many had the extra work dumped on them, most of whom received no extra compensation. People became Senior Managers that had no business managing people in the first place. It was a joke. With so many great job opportunities out there that actually pay you what you are worth, there was no reason to stay any longer.

Staying here as long as I can!
Jan 8, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I will stay at Advent as long as they will have me! The people that work here are laid back and friendly. Advent is big on culture and hires based on it being a good fit. This is the type of place where if you have a question people leap to help you out or will put you in touch with the best person to talk to. I never feel scared to ask for help. I enjoy coming to work and appreciate the flexible hours. Here they understand you are a person first and an employee second. Things come up in life. As long as you get your work done, if you need to leave for an appointment or work from home, no problem! Working directly with clients I often hear how much they enjoy our products. It feels good working for a company that has clients who have been with us from the start and are loyal for 20+ years. Tons of parking around here. Get here about 8am and you can usually get a spot for free. Chill work attire, jeans and a t shirt or nicer top is standard.
Cons
The average Advent employee has been here about 13 years, that's nuts...in the Bay people don't stay that long unless they love it! That being said, you can run into "well, we used to do it this way..." type conversations. People don't change and the old timers here are slowly getting used to new ways of doing things. (Example, new products, changing up roles...) Adapting to a changing market is a good thing and we are doing it well.

Don't work here!!!
Jan 17, 2016 - Client Advocate in Jacksonville, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
All the pros are gone since the acquisition of SS & C Technologies. The CEO sold his employees down the river, and now anything that made the company a good place to work, is no longer in place.
Cons
Horrible training. Used to be a good company to work for. SS&C has ruined a good thing. Benefits+ work-life balance have been slashed. Compensation and bonuses have been on-hold since the company has been bought. They keep trying to feed employees a poo sandwich, while insisting to everyone it's ice cream. Management is in total denial that they are screwing the pooch.
