    I worked at SS&C full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people were the best part about the job. Their facilities, at least at my Location were very nice. Eh.

    Cons

I never felt like I was utilizing my degree. Even some of the accountants I worked with felt the same way. It was like pulling teeth to get my manager to train me on new things and it would often get pushed aside. Starting pay is way too low and raises aren't that significant.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate starting pay and relationships between managers and employees should be more critical. Hopefully you'll figure out how to retain new grads longer.

I have been working at SS&C full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall, it's been a good experience. The pay is good, the benefits are great, and the coworkers are lots of fun. They'll take you right out of college and teach you everything.

    Cons

Having a number of high-profile clients means that everything is high-intensity and needs to be done NOW! Management attempts to be "leaders" who convince people to push past their abilities, but they just end up causing everyone to stress out and work long hours.

    Advice to Management

Maybe a bit more realistic expectations of what a person can actually accomplish. You tend to encourage burnout, which has led to a high turnover rate among newer employees.

Management was terrible, they did not care what was going on as long as there was a profit
No back office support(i.e Marketing, finance, Development, etc)
Their form of growth is acquisitions.

I have been working at SS&C full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Advancement in technology, experience of their employees, and the improvement of their processes has allowed SS&C to be a leader in the hedge fund administration workspace.

    Cons

Management has little to no mentoring at the company. Most open positions are filled externally with little internal promotion above manager level.

    Advice to Management

When projects are rolled out there is minimal training for the masses. It's mostly a learn as you go approach. Management should also have a minimum of four meetings with staff throughout the year to promote discussion.

I have been working at SS&C full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There's a lot of room for growth within the company. The company has a very young feel. Benefits and PTO are competitive. The people are easy to get along with and even easier to work with.

    Cons

The pay is not at all competitive, especially for finance and accounting degrees. Some management is difficult to work with. Also, there is a lot of room for error. Negative feedback comes often and harshly. While positive reinforcement is often hard to come by. There is a large learning curve starting out.
