I worked at SS&C as an intern

    Pros

Great work-life balance. Good hours. Good benefits. Always improving office for the betterment of the employees. Great training, very in-depth. Travel opportunities.

    Cons

Not quite as much team projects as I'd prefer, however I am a people person so I enjoy interacting with others as much as possible. In your job some days you mostly keep to yourself.

    I worked at SS&C full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was a software developer for the Financial Markets Group in Boston, working on Market Trader. The group I worked with was fun, and worked well together as a team in an agile team environment. My coworkers were always professional, and provided help and guidance when needed.

The management team, which included members in NY / NJ as well as in Boston were very positive to work for. They always allowed for extra time when development took longer than expected, while maintaining high SW DEV standards in following the standard SWDLC. They were also good with handling clients may have had unrealistic expectations.

While I was with SSNC, my skill set grew into the area of report writing. My C#/VS/MSSQL/TFS skills grew as well since the technology is all MS based. Also learned how equity/option trades in domestic as well as global markets work.

The salary, bonuses, and benefits were all competitive and commensurate with my position in the company.

The talent that I had the privilege of working with was world class.

The office building where I worked in downtown Boston is as good as any facility I've ever worked.

They also provide a nice transportation benefit for covering the costs of commuting to work.

The kitchen always provides a nice array of various coffees to choose from.

    Cons

Sometimes there were miscommunications. Also, the talent is so high there, that some of the code I wrote was sometimes replaced with more improved code, even though my code was adequate.

I have been working at SS&C full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is growing and has plenty of opportunity for advancement. Software used for accounting is best in the industry.

    Cons

Managers aren't afraid to hire outside the company for senior and manager level positions as opposed to promoting qualified people from within.

    Advice to Management

Training needs improvement. Performance review process needs more attention. Have quarterly updates that include goal setting.

I have been working at SS&C full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good managers, good co-workers, and all around good environment.

    Cons

Just like any job you just have to make the most of your time. The work load can be a lot at times but I still enjoy what I do.

    Advice to Management

My managers have always made it a point to inform me of my work whether good or bad or if improvement is needed. Basically I think they are doing what they are supposed to.
