Cons
If you’re a person who takes their growth, health, and mental illness serious, likes to learn, and always looking to advance….this is not the place for you!!!! The company (DST) was a good company before they got brought out by SS&C! Everything went down hill after that! A lot of people got laid, a lot of good and tenured employees were resigning left and right because the workload became too much or they got tired of the excuses, the advancement of the company was unknown, and promotions & raises was left in the past!! Be excepted to be overworked & stressed out. There’s no work life balance unless you like chugging down coffee & energy drinks to keep you going! My off days didn’t exist because all I did was rest to get prepared for the upcoming week. It was almost impossible to schedule a day off because they were always understaffed! Theres room to grow but not much room. You have to be in your current position for at least a few years (2-3 yrs) before they finally promote you or wait 1 yr before you can post out into another dept! In the mean time….cross your fingers & hope that you either don’t get laid off, give you an excuse as to why you’re not getting promoted or can’t post out, or they decide to revamp your department without knowing what direction they want the department to go! If you do get promoted….don’t be surprised if they throw you back in your old position as well as having you work your new one! The environment became draining. It started to focus more on results, money, and accommodating the clients even if that means putting the employees in unhealthy situations/positions (working day in & day out or working through your lunch)!! It’s not a good feeling coming into work after working 50-60 hrs a week and reading emails from the CEO about the success of the company, how much they profit, how they gained a new client, etc and the only thing they do to show you some appreciation is say “Great Job Team” in the email and give you a five cent raise for all your hard work for the year! Oh and don’t get me started on the stock incentive!!! Yes it’s a good thing because not a lot of companies offer it…but it’s a joke!! I received a certain amount of shares from the company when they first started the program in 2019 and in 2020. This year I had to either move it or cash it out & sell it back to them before it expired. I decided to cash it out because I was leaving. From 2019 to this year I had accumulated over $6,000. After all the taxes & selling it back to them(they took most of the money)…I walked away with $300!! I know to some that’s better than nothing but imagine putting in hard work, being loyal to a company for 9+ years, implementing new ideas that played a major part in the company success and they thank you by giving you a stock that you have to sell back to them if you want to cash it out!
