I have been working at SSE full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people, close by, lots of afterwork activities to partake in, decent training facilities (3 weeks training), decent pay, great holidays (25 days)

    Cons

Odd hours, weekends, food not free, no parking, outdated technology, not too many incentives for the staff at the moment due to a cutback.

    Advice to Management

    More incentives

    Pros

They are a caring and safety conscious organisation that looks after it's staff and offers them excellent training opportunities.

    Cons

Long term planning at the site where I work would be a huge benefit to myself

    Advice to Management

Continue to promote working within a safe environment

    Pros

    Excellent company to work for.

    Cons

Alot of irrelevant courses to attend. Not job specific.

    Advice to Management

Courses to technical staff should be trade specific.
This will result in massive savings on the training budget, as well as other costs such as cover, overtime etc. It is also a safety concern.

I worked at SSE full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company, share scheme, pension, life assurance. I would advise to get straight into the share schemes as they are pretty much guaranteed to make you money.

    Cons

With big companies it always takes a long time to implement change. Over the top with health and safety as well.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your staff.

    Pros

Very good management makes it a positive and slightly relaxed work environment, very good flexibility as choose what hours to work. Receive very good staff benefits, given work van and all tools and equipment needed to carry out work. Very health and safety conscious. Pay is good and bonus' can be big and are easily achievable monthly if you are willing to put in the work.

    Cons

Since starting work here 6 months ago i haven't got a bad word to say and no cons to working here

    Advice to Management

Pay is good as is however i feel there should be some negotiation as to where your salary starts within your pay band

    Pros

Good salary. No real pressure. Colleagues are all decent and help is there when needed. Bonus available on all field quotes.

    Cons

Travel time is poor compared to previous companies. I was told in the interview all work would be local but this has not really been the case. Apart from this I have no other real complaints.
