I have been working at SSI Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

3 weeks vacations right away off the bat. HR is willing to work with you when you feel inferior to management

    Cons

Easily kicked around by management, unless you know your rights with HR. Recommended you do so as soon as you join the company

    Advice to Management

    Hear your employees better

I worked at SSI Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent vacation plan and good benefits. Company is experiencing a lot of growth so there is room to move within the company. Peer to peer relationships are usually very good and people on the same level work with, not against each other.

    Cons

Poor communication between management and production employees leaves many of the production workers feeling bitter. The rapid growth is contributing to long hours and high turn over in all positions. Changes in upper management without enough transparency is leaving many people nervous. However, it is probably for the best. I do see a better balance coming within the next year.

    Advice to Management

Listen closer to production employees and implement their ideas for improvements while giving them credit as well.

I worked at SSI Technologies (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are very nice and helpful. Good wages for people working near the furnaces. Benefits are very good and worth the effort. I do miss people there and the benefits but not my former boss.

    Cons

Former tool room employee. To much complaining from the boss about other people on different shifts and not owning up to his own faults. Getting his former partner a job there and offering him way more pay than anyone else while his buddy is in charge of the tool room and isn't very professional when approached about conflicts.

    Advice to Management

Don't expect the tool room to solve all the problems and have a supervisor that doesn't work in the tool room but also make sure everyone is accountable for their own work.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    on-site gym, monthly employee luncheons

    Cons

Unclear and conflicting direction within the company from the highest levels down. Managers tend to cover their own skins because there is an over-reactive environment, so workers continually look for ways to undermine one another to protect their own jobs. Corrosive and divisive culture - antagonistic work environment. High-level incompetence and dishonesty.

    Advice to Management

not sure that I can offer any that would improve conditions - I think the dysfunctional patterns and denial run too deep to be improved, other than through a complete change in ownership/mgmt.

"Management has little concern for the "little guy""

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Good learning opportunity, business seems stable, pay is reasonable, have a small gym on grounds, good parking, really good area in Edmond (across from the college)

    Cons

Management severely over-reacts when things go wrong. Ok place to work when everything is going right, but management literally yells at employees when things go wrong. Have worked at dozens of other organizations without issue, and never been treated so poorly, and ended having to leave.
Also, the environment is disorganized. Onsite systems are so old that it is often difficult to do your job. many critical areas are patched together, which creates frequent down-time and lost work.

    Advice to Management

Value the employee, without them you will not survive in this economy. Also, take steps to modernize your environment and systems. You can't build a castle with tinker toys.
