I worked at STERIS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

make own schedule, company vehicle, local travel, very flexible with time

    Cons

very low pay for the bay area(25%) below market. Management does not listen, They talk a good talk but don't follow thru on what they say but expect you too.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the managers that don't have field experience. Don't promote them to regional managers.

I worked at STERIS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They equip their technicians well. Certain regions would be very good to work for depending on the district manager. As a field service technician, you are recognized as income generator and supported and recognized as such. Prefers to promote from within. Company car and gas card available for personal use.

    Cons

Lots of disparity between regions, hearing from other technicians about the style of management they are under leads employees to the conclusion that more is available, but their manager doesn't care to make it available to their territory. Your mileage will vary greatly depending on your region.

    Advice to Management

Be more particular when hiring district management.

I worked at STERIS for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very good benefits, home most nights, company provides minivan, charges a small weekly fee and allows you to use it for personal use. Steris pays all insurance & maintenance.

    Cons

Companies priorities are wrong. Profits and metrics rule all of management's decision making. Customer service & employee satisfaction are completely ignored until a problem arises with a product. Then customer service is the main focus and the service tech is completely expendable.

    Advice to Management

Mirror business model of AMSCO, the very successful company you aquired in 1996.

I worked at STERIS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Tools, training, vehical provided to do the work

    Cons

Low pay, advancement to next pay grade was a joke. Manufacturing moved to Mexico, every new piece I worked on from there was junk a call almost once a week. My area was left without a tech for several months so needless to say none of the PM's got done and if you don't do the PM's on steris equip you're f'ed.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for being so greedy. Let Americans know when you bring our jobs back
