I worked at STERIS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A few people were good to work with.
None in management, terrible mangement is a compliment to them.

    Cons

Downsides are a long list, but here are a few, don't use words longer than four letters as management feels threatened that your smarter than they are, in other words dummy down! Numbers mean everything to them and they will get there by any means.

    Advice to Management

Quit and try working a real job, never mind that would require some effort and we all know you don't know what that requires.
I could go on and on but what's the sense, I actually have a job to manage!

    I worked at STERIS full-time

    Pros

Good name recognition and blah, blah, blah. Had to enter at least five words for pros to be able to submit this review. So had to use blah, blah, blah...couldn't think of anything else!

    Cons

Good ol' boy club! Too many 30 year employees that shouldn't be in leadership or even at the company are in leadership roles. Super easy to perform high, however, it will only get you more work and poorer treatment. Need to promote candidates that are diverse in their experience and knowledge that perform at a high level. Stop giving promotions to 30 year inside candidates that are low performers. If you want to advance at this company just perform mediocre to low for 30 years and you are golden! Oh, and no need to have integrity if you plan to go into a leadership role, check it at the door!

    Advice to Management

Do the hard work and recruit, advance and reward the hard workers that are also talented whether internal or external.. Status quo is not the way to go just to make it easy on yourself. STERIS is full of status quo mentality. Also, leadership has a trustworthy problem. Need to fix that.

    Horrible management now with IMS

    Advice to Management

To a good look at who you have running your Outsource business for OR instrumentation. Steris is a great company horrible merge with IMS. Worst merge ever

    Pros

Great location and parking. Good benefits

    Cons

High stress environment. Poor communication of changes. Outdated documentation creation and retention systems. Decision making process ridiculously long. Generally negative and highly disorganized environment. High management turnover

    Advice to Management

Listen to people more. Be organized. Be objective in problem solving, not subjective. That's why the place is so tense. Work on retaining managers. Production manager should not make promises that he can't keep to clients. Care more about the vision of the organization than just profits and surviving another day. Create an environment for passionate employees who take pride in their work to stay

    Pros

    -Solid working environment
-Has every tool/parts you need for anything

    Cons

I would never trust a soul in the wharehouse rack room department. Was an extremely uncomfortable experience dealing with certain people in an "unsafe" environment. It's also not diversified

    Advice to Management

Managers don't know what's going on in the workplace. I would advise you to get to know the truth

I worked at STERIS (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, PTO, cafe, gym, location

    Cons

Upper and lower management are horrible. How can you take someone with no management experience of someone with 20 plus years of experience? Processes are constantly changing. Communication is horrible. No run for growth. Favoritism at its best.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing the buddy game and hire real qualified people with experience and knowledge

I have been working at STERIS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ok benefits, some good people. Outside of those two things, I dont see too many pro's to talk about right now.

    Cons

Horrible communication. Nobody communicates at this company until the customers start complaining. Even then it appears no one seems to care. Management instantly looks for a scapegoat to blame for their ineptitude.

    Advice to Management

Know the areas, people and products you manage. Stop hiding behind desks and get out and hit the street with your people. Stop making managers out of idiots who have no business guiding their own careers, let alone someone elses.
