I worked at STIHL Incorporated full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good working environment between managers, supervisors and techs. Interesting product

    Cons

Incompetent upper management. Key managers have their own agenda. Most are overpaid and unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

    Advise to management in Germany.
Clean house and replace top management. Start with all key managers, continue with Vice Presidents of Manufacturing and do not stop at HR

Turnover in this company is 50%
From 10 new employees ( salary level) 5 won’t make it 2 years

Great opportunities within the company. Training, benefits, pension plans, 401K and bonuses is a plus. Stihl can improve the employee experience by making technology more accessible.

    Cons

I can’t think of any con because it’s been a great experience for me that seems to move me up reasonably.

    Advice to Management

Promote and identify employees that has potential growth within the company.

I have been working at STIHL Incorporated full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Wage is good as compared to other the factory job I've had. Medical and dental are good. Good bonus.

    Cons

Bullies seem to be catered to here. I've seen a lot of unfair things happen at Stihl. There seems to be no interest in fairness from management or hr, in my opinion. In a large company, you might think hr/management would be determined to put harassment/bullying to a stop to the very best of their power... you would think but no. It would be in Stihl's own self interest to take a hard look at their hr policies on harassment and how things are actually being executed

    Advice to Management

Advice to employees in general... if you have a problem with a coworker or boss, document every incident yourself just in case. Take notes

I have been working at STIHL Incorporated full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is enough to support yourself if you work on the assembly line. So, it's a good place to work if you have no other opportunities because of lack of college education or special skill set.

    Cons

Toxic work environment. You will put up with a lot, and have no help from HR. If you choose to go to HR, some of them (one guy) have been known to use intimidating language and tone... presumably to get you to back down.

If you want to be treated with equality at this company you will have to fight hard for your rights. It's really not worth it.

This company seems to look down on the "wage earner." ("Wage Earner" is a term upper management has been known to use in a derogatory way to describe the workers that keep this place running). There is little respect for anyone that attempts to bring real problems to light. If you bring a problem up to HR, whether it's sexual harassment, unfair promotion practices, favoritism, or exercising your right to FMLA... you are seen as the problem. You may be seen as just one of the simple minded "wage earners" trying to complain their way into getting what they want. Nevermind the federal laws in place to protect all workers from this type of treatment.

HR will make sure to tell you that they have not broken any laws or gone against any company policies.... HR counts on the fact that the workers don't know their rights. And most will back down and not pursue their rights any further.

Why do they give such a hard time their employees is a mystery to me... one would think that they would want to get rid of problems like sexual harassment, unfair promotion practices (discrimination), favoritism (discrimination), and they are required by federal law to abide by FMLA laws.... My only guess is they would rather protect the behavior of a few individuals in order to protect the company from potential legal ramifications. Deny any wrong doing ever happened.

And nothing ever changes. Business as usual.

    Advice to Management

Lost cause. Management doesn't care. They are making money, and their lawyers will make sure they will not be sued for the backward things that go on here.

I have been working at STIHL Incorporated full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The pros to STIHL, INC are Health, 401k and pension benefits, training courses and the organization does participate in tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

The cons are employees have seen no raises except 3 % cost of living but the increase in health care takes that and some, job advancement is stagnant.
