    Pros

The pros to STIHL, INC are Health, 401k and pension benefits, training courses and the organization does participate in tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

The cons are employees have seen no raises except 3 % cost of living but the increase in health care takes that and some, job advancement is stagnant.

Great benefits; lots of talented, hard-working, friendly people. Investment in R&D to stay relevant. Investment in new technologies for production.

    Cons

Trending toward shorter project cycles on tighter budgets, with fewer resources. Management tends to be paternalistic and weighted toward top-down culture.

I worked at STIHL Incorporated full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay scale highest in the area.
    3 weeks paid vacation.
    Great health plan.

    Cons

Unannounced overtime schedule leaves little room for home life.
Breaks are discouraged except mandatory 30 minute lunch.
Administrative employees are pressured to work off the clock to "catch up" on their productivity.
Management level employees do not comply with executive level policies.

    Advice to Management

Follow STIHL's great policies handed down from executive level, instead of pushing employees too hard for the sole purpose of winning productivity awards.

I worked at STIHL Incorporated full-time

    Pros

    pay good, vacation time good

    Cons

Favortism to certain people who have not a clue in management. makes the work environment horrible. Don't promote those deserving and work hard. Sad, because their are so many qualified people who could make Stihl better.

    Advice to Management

make a transition in your management team in production. promote those qualified as opposed to those you like. investigate complaints, instead of favoring Human resources and management. they work together for the worst.

    Pros

Set work schedule, good pay, decent vacation time.

    Cons

Management clearly has favorites and advances those favored instead of those deserving, clueless, makes changes without any regard to how it affects the work, work is fabricated to fluff our numbers, morale is low and the mood is palpable, management has alienated every department in the company causing engineers to outsource their work rather than dealing with him, training is a joke, skills are underutilized due to management, discouraged to work together with the all seeing eye looming from the window in the sky, bringing complaints to HR for anything is feared because word gets back to the person you are complaining about putting a target on your back.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to do their jobs.

I have been working at STIHL Incorporated full-time

    Pros

The pay is decent and the benefits are good, also there is a cafeteria is on site which makes it convenient for meals.

    Cons

The department's work against each other instead of working together, management is poor at best, they run the place like a dictatorship instead of a partnership.

    Advice to Management

Before implementing changes ask for employee input and listen to their ideas, working together works much better than a dictatorship. also departments need to learn to work together. The top companies in this country have this work ethic.
