I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has a lot of resources. We were well equipped with computers and IT services and lab equipment and supplies. The company has many divisions and employees and it was possible to contact others around the world for advice or help with problems.

    Cons

Management was frustratingly slow sometimes to respond with approvals for new equipment or other things needed to get the job done. The very upper management seemed detached from the concerns of the rank and file, and callous about laying off big groups of people on what seemed like a whim.

    Advice to Management

Make more of an effort to make the workforce feel valued, and act that way. The top management would make these quick visits to our site, with words that felt like canned phrases for how we were valued, then explain how it was out of their hands why they needed to lay off a lot of people.
