    Pros

I enjoy the working environment, the work life balance, great immediate manager and working in the lab. The compensation and benefits are better than other semiconductor companies.

    Cons

No employee stock purchase plan. Budget is so tight in my group not all stated benefits are granted and travel is restricted despite the opportunities for more business. The security on IT is ridiculously restrictive. Too many field marketing people. I now now why most people do not like the French. Keep the Italian sites.

    Advice to Management

Please retire, or run the the business like Texas Instrument's CEO Rich Templeton. Move at least 50% of the company out of France to cut operating cost.

    I worked at STMicroelectronics full-time

    Pros

Able to work along side knowledgeable engineers who had significant industry experience. Had a great deal of autonomy and was able to work on some leading edge technology. Great benefits package.

    Cons

Sometimes slow to maneuver in a fast paced environment.

    Advice to Management

Seems like some locations, particularly in Europe, may be over staffed.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at STMicroelectronics as an intern

    Pros

Lots of independence, and lots of interesting problems. Always found it fun to come to work and get to work on new and interesting problems with a lot of intelligent and fun people.

    Cons

The hierarchy was a mess, while I was there lots of people kept getting "shifted around", my direct report chain changed twice. Was always unsure what was going to happen at the next company meeting.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to get all of the weird company politics out of the way of regular employees. People without management titles shouldn't be so worried about being at risk of all of the hierarchy happening above them.
