I worked at SUMMIT Electric Supply

    Pros

Company focused on customer service. They ran a clean facility with a professional workforce. They offered a lot of professional development opportunities for their employees. They do a good job of promoting from within.

    Cons

Warehouse operations utilized old technology which leads to human error. Upper management is not good at giving constructive feedback.

I worked at SUMMIT Electric Supply full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Flexible schedule and minimal oversight

    Cons

Constant changes in upper management and inconsistently applied corporate policies have made Summit Electric Supply an unstable work environment for corporate employees. Management stretches employees’ workloads as far as possible to avoid increasing headcount. Salaried employees are pressured into working outside of the normal workday in order to keep up with the excessive workloads. In the last 2 years, the bonus program for non-sales departments have been cut out completely in order to improve the bottom line for shareholders, non-sales employees go years without merit or cost of living pay increases. Employees do not receive regular feedback from managers (this includes annual performance reviews), in certain departments management is unavailable to their subordinates for much of the workweek.

I have been working at SUMMIT Electric Supply full-time

    Pros

Privately owned and managed, the local sales and support team is as good if not better than any I have worked with in my past. The reports are top notch and the direction and goals are laid out weekly and monthly. Your current career path is discussed once or twice a year. Management give daily or weekly input on how they want you to do your job.

    Cons

The upper management has chosen a micro-management policy to guide staff. This eliminates ideas for change or growth that may be seen from the field. Motivation is by intimidation rather than by positive comments and recommendations. While this motivates the weak it minimizes the strong to a point where they exit.

I worked at SUMMIT Electric Supply full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They pay very high salaries that most people don't deserve. It's the only way for them to keep employees.

    Cons

Everything. You have to be part of the good ol boy network. Absolutely no advancement opportunities. Upper Management is a joke. CEO is the worst. Treats employees horribly. Zero respect for employees. The only people who move up do absolutely nothing. The hardworkers are overlooked or even criticized and eventually leave.
