I have been working at SYKES full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity for hands on experience. Excellent IT Team and Management. Chance to learn many areas of IT from Networking, Systems Management, Applications, etc. Very busy, fast paced environment. You will NOT get bored.

    Cons

Can be long work hours for some projects (but there's OT!) Pay rate is a little lower than local market. Very busy, fast paced environment. Every other department gets lunch paid for often - not IT though.

    Advice to Management

Better recognition for hard work from higher levels of management. A bonus now and then would be nice. IT keeps the place running, however they are the "forgotten" department.

    Pros

I learned new things, met new people, and thoroughly enjoyed my time working for Sykes.

    Cons

The turnover rate is tremendous, which is to be expected in a call center.

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your employees.

I have been working at SYKES part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. The support from the coaches is outstanding and can't be beaten.

    Cons

    1. Downside is the schedule is hard to change
    2. There really is no chance of raises unless you move up with a position

    Advice to Management

Listen to your agents more. We are telling you what we need but sometimes it feels as though we are just speaking into a black hole. We also need more raises.

    Pros

The pay and hours if you do not have a family are great.

    Cons

If you have a family it doesn't really work out for your schedule. And asking for a schedule change took weeks to be approved.

Easy to make money if you offer on every call.

    Cons

Having to offer services to people who can't afford it. Having to be able to withstand people cursing you out for things that were not your doing.

    Pros

Competitive pay, work from home, team-oriented, you're always recognized for doing well, supervisors and trainers always available to help, paid training, amazing people, fairly relaxed environment, overtime opportunity, benefits offered

    Cons

Minimum wage during some training, benefits are VERY expensive, hard to work during hurricane season (in the southeast) because of power outages, sometimes boring especially when it's slow

    Advice to Management

The only advice I have for management is to try and allocate more time to individual people rather than addressing the whole 200 person department at once. I know you guys are very busy, but it would really mean a lot if you could offer more individual attention. All of your trainers and middle managers are fabulous and wonderful and I love every single one of the ones I've worked with. They all deserve raises.
