I have been working at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its an at-home position which saves me tons in the way of gas and lunches, its nearly impossible to get fired, they send you all the equipment you need to be able to do your work although they do recommend (well, they technically require, but you could do the job without it) that you get an extra monitor. The people are always positive and uplifting.

    Cons

The training for the program I was on sucked. It was only half done, meaning I could only perform half of my job duties. The pay is absurdly low for the work and effort that has to be put in and the size of the company. The "support" staff often dont know the answers to your questions or fail to answer you so you are left stuttering with customers. They will NOT let customers speak with a supervisor. Also, the supervisors cannot make any decisions you, yourself, cannot make.

    Advice to Management

PAY. This needs to increase, or pay for all of the employees health insurance. Its fair for the amount of effort, learning, and work we have to perform on a daily basis. Please, get some supervisors who can actually make decisions and allow inside transfers so we dont continually get cussed out because a customer is tired of repeating themselves after the phones cut out 12 times.

I worked at SYKES as a contractor

    Pros

Great opportunity for stay at home moms wanting to contribute to their family financial income.

    Cons

The equipment they send apparently had been used numerous times and was not working when I received it.They sent replacement equipment, but I still had same problem and it put me behind in training. There training has a specific scheduling time and getting behind is not good.

    Advice to Management

Give more time for equipment setup so any equipment issues can be addressed before training starts.

I worked at SYKES part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company works with reputable clients, Easy going atmosphere wth great coworkers, good health coverage even for PT workers, nice location and surroundings, comfortable breakroom with wide selection of vended food,

    Cons

All employees are considered PT (even if working a full 40 hr week) unless they are in a management position thus limiting pay and vacation benefits. If you understand this when you’re hired then you will be fine. No easy access to public transportation.

    Advice to Management

Lower level management is challlenged with time consuming tasks that take away from personal interaction with subordinates thus reducing individual performance of reps and loyalty to the success of the program/company.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Higher starting pay vs other local companies
    Flexibility in scheduling
    Ability to make relationships

    Cons

    Inconsistent incentive programs
Constant changing of workload without additional pay
    Constant fear of demotion

    Advice to Management

As a company that is "People First" we need to do more especially for team leaders. The training needs to be revamped, so that people who are promoted have the adequate resources to be successful in their new position. Also we must stop promising tongs l things & not delivering.

I worked at SYKES part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice co-workers who would always pull together to help each other out, opportunities to pick up extra shifts. It was extremely nice to work from home - Definitely not a career, but nice supplemental income.

    Cons

Systems were faulty at times, was asked to become a “supervisor”, but would not have received a pay increase (dealing with angrier customers, and more responsibility/stress with the same pay? No thanks!)

    Advice to Management

My management was pretty fair and understanding, but I do wish there were opportunities for raises - I don’t know that management has any say in that, or if it’s Sykes as a whole that makes that decision.
