I worked at SYKES full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The co-workers were always fun and helpful and it is always nice to have a computer always at/on hand when answering a call, helpful, in depth, and appropriate training, as well as a great database of information to draw from when on a call regarding nearly any problem a caller may have.

    Cons

Poor hours, few directing supervisors, boring and empty working environment, which can cause a problem if you cannot find the information you are looking for relative to the caller's problem directly in the Sykes database and would like to speak to someone directly about it, (as getting support yourself by phone from a supervisor on one line while giving it to a caller on another line can get confusing really quick.)

    Advice to Management

Find ways to keep employees busy, give things to do on long waits (2 hours+) between calls, & find more efficient/less tedious ways to log them.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gaining commitment with the customer leading to a suspension of my own values to isolate critical issues and represent business

    Cons

    I'm not a supervisor LOL

    Advice to Management

Give certificates or awards to the best employers

I have been working at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to work from home. The insurance is decent, and the pay is good if you consider not having to commute. Advancement opportunities are based on your skill levels with the program.

    Cons

Not much of a social atmosphere, as everyone you work with is over a computer. If you are on the phones, your background noise has to be at 0%. This can be difficult to maintain in a house with children and/or pets.

    Advice to Management

A great company to get into a management position.

    Cons

Pay rate is low for the work we do.

    Advice to Management

Pay rate is way below other companies in the area.

I worked at SYKES full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Positive environment! Continued mentoring and support throughout my career with Sykes. I really enjoyed my colleagues while working with Sykes. Sykes is a very large BPO...but it never felt too large, if you know what I mean. Chuck Sykes instills the sense of camaraderie...even though Sykes employees are 60K+ strong!

    Cons

Don't really have any to share.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Management Team, and great work-life balance.

    Cons

Inconsistent pay compensation. Due to "system gliche" you are not able to receive your max incentive bonus, even if you earned it.

    Advice to Management

Not just listen to employees about Payroll issues, but act upon them more efficiently.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working from home, paycheck every two weeks, bonuses, great people, many opportunities to move up within the company, job security (if you work hard you wont be fired or laid off, if cut backs are needed for one program they will find you another program, great company!!)

    Cons

No face to face interactions BUT you can work in comfy clothes (or pjs)...hmm okay thats a positive too. NO CONS!!

    Advice to Management

I moved up within the company after a few months. They hire within. Sykes wants you to succeed and they have coaches and team leads to help you along the way.
