I worked at SYKES (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company. Multiple departments to work for. Ancestry.com, Xbox, etc. Great discounts on travel, home, and auto.

    Cons

If you don't have a mindset that you are still at work, even though it's from home, do not do this job. If you have distractions like T.Vs, games, pets, children, etc. then this job is going to be hard if you don't know how to jungle your time accordingly from work to home.

    Advice to Management

Have a better way to contact management and better way to ask for help when needed.

I worked at SYKES full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great on the job training. Great for no job experience and to start a steady job.

    Cons

No chance for advancement. You have to know someone to move up.

    Advice to Management

Should not play favorites for those applying for promoting up the ladder

I worked at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Very professional environment
    Dedicated to proper training
    Many chances to move up

    Cons

A lot like high school in the popular kids and class environment way
Insane pressure to make sales which takes away from the customer service

    Advice to Management

Focus on increasing confidence instead of sales because you will only ever have your few top guys if you don't

    Advice to Management

I worked at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A company that cares for their employees. Provided breakfast at times as well as lunch as part of building morale. Human Resources as well as supervisors and team leads were genuinely interested in making Sykes a pleasant place to work.

    Cons

Not very selective of employees and I feel they were just concerned with filling seats for that particular campaign.

I worked at SYKES (More than a year)

    Pros

Work from home, save on gas, no face to face contact with customers, easy interview, team lead was great and understanding.

    Cons

Pay isn't that great, just okay. No reimbursement for cost of internet and phone line you're required to have. I had no use for a hard wire pots landline, so to pay for it when it was only used for this job and not be reimbursed was a downside. Equipment and system issues happened too often, which causes you not to be able to work. They do offer tech pay, but it can take forever to receive, if you received it at all. They tell you there is a lot of room for advancement, but it's not entirely true. Call volume increased insanely. Rules change too often. When I first started, sales we're not mandatory, but then they became obsessed with agents making sales, even though you didn't receive any commission.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that your agents have working equipment and systems. Stop putting so much pressure on agents making sales, especially if they we're not required or trained to do so when hired.

I have been working at SYKES part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to work from home. I used to enjoy working for them but my current program is so bad, I am looking for new employment.

    Cons

Programs are poorly run, QA's are inaccurate, they cheat you on tech pay, my current team lead is really bad at communicating and responding to you, if she bothers to at all, and senior management isn't very good either, they lose programs because of it, and training is insufficient to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Some team leads are unqualified for the position, and some programs are so bad, like my current one, no one stays very long. Senior management is not very good and you lose programs because of it. You also should know some positions need much more than a week or so of training, and you need better trainers. People make mistakes because they are not adequately trained.
