I worked at SYKES full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The tasks of the job are not physically demanding and the environment in which they are preferred is reasonably comfortable.

    Cons

Lack of employee development and minimal advancement opportunities, unrealistic expectations from senior management and corporate leaders, extremely high pressure to conduct transactions and sell products without sufficient time or resources allocated for the tasks. Questionable morality in trying to use high pressure sales techniques to manipulate customers into purchasing additional products and services regardless of the circumstances

    Advice to Management

Have more integrity, invest more in your employees, instead of worrying about your own bonuses, restore agent level opportunities for anual merit based pay raises that have been frozen for over 5 years. Have more respect for the backbone of your organization your frontline employees.

I worked at SYKES (More than a year)

    Pros

For a call center it is a great environment. The building is beautiful inside. There are some great people there.

    Cons

If management does not like you, your life will be miserable and you will have to quit or you will get fired. You don't know who you can trust. It is like being in high school.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of all your unethical leaders at the site. Start caring for the employees again like you did when you first opened.

    Pros

    Excellent for first time job.

    Cons

I worked at SYKES full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working from home was great and I truly loved my job. My team lead was awesome and while I was on the job I had an amazing amount of support.

    Cons

The call out procedure is unnecessarily complicated and changes frequently and not always with notice. I was fired while I was in the hospital. Apparently the departments don't talk to each other because the leave of absence department didn't seem to know I'd been fired, and the rest of HR didn't seem to know I'd been calling out or working with LOA. They tried to call me at home while I was in the hospital even though I called in every day and notified them where I was.

    Advice to Management

You need to communicate better between your departments. I'm still trying to decide whether to file for wrongful termination.
