I worked at Saatchi & Saatchi (Less than a year)

    Pros

I liked that it is a legacy ad agency, with a lot of big clients and national campaigns to work on. It was definitely a step up from local agencies and clients.

    Cons

Management seemed to be reactive rather than proactive dealing with any internal issues. It seems like everyone worked their way up from accounts, creative or media without picking up the requisite management skills.

    Advice to Management

Hire some management consultants, or give some management training to the people you already have.

    I worked at Saatchi & Saatchi full-time

    Pros

Good people who come together to do good work and treat each other respectfully. Solid relationship with a stable client means job security in an otherwise volatile industry.

    Cons

Cumbersome, outdated systems keep you mired in process, leaving less room for creativity. Horribly location. Saatchi LA is in Torrance. In a mall parking lot.

I worked at Saatchi & Saatchi (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Location and views are awesome
    - My creative team was incredible, my favorite part of the job was collaborating with them
    - Lots of opportunity to meet colleagues through socials such as Friday pizza and happy hour
    - There is a drive to do more, to do different. It isn't harnessed to its full potential.
    - Most of the people I met and worked with were genuinely nice, helpful and collaborative

    Cons

    - Lots of meeting and talking about work, less time actually doing the work
    - No real push back or challenge to client briefs
    - Missed opportunity to lead the thinking with the client in true partnership, instead most people think like the client. Where's the added value?
    - There is a tight political clique that is hard to break into if you aren't male, white

    Advice to Management

Mix it up a little, match the talk with the walk. Bring in fresh perspectives on the lovemark, which is foundational to your agency.

  11. "Account-driven, not creative driven agency"

I worked at Saatchi & Saatchi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hours are reasonable, colleagues are friendly, environment is professional yet creative.

    Cons

No departmental leadership, little room for growth and promotion, no annual reviews, poor communication between departments, and inability to land new business or keep current business. Agency is account-driven, not creative driven. This is a recipe for failure int today's environment.

    Advice to Management

Be confident and lead, not follow. Upper management is too worried about losing their jobs instead of focusing on landing new business, taking risks with current business and excelling.
