I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    People who prefer family atmosphere
Domain which is interesting and demanding
Real problems of real users and real business
    Challenges

    Cons

As in other big companies you may meet people you are not compatible with. In some projects you may need to push harder to challenge status quo.

    Advice to Management

Show more trust in capability of the staff and be more dynamic with decision and risk taking.

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people at this company are mostly really great to work with. You are expected to use your brain, voice your opinions (especially if they include a solution) and figure things out. There are a lot of really bright people who really care about their peers. A lot of people have both good leaders and advancement opportunities at this company.

    Cons

Culture has shifted from leading with trust to leading with mistrust. A formerly relaxed environment has turned a little tense where people are not getting promoted unless they move to Dallas and many are pressured into coming into the office,. There are a few bad apples in leadership because they "show up" and tell their bosses what they want to hear, instead of having the tough, honest conversations. There are a some unrealistic expectations on the amount of work that can be completed with the level of talent and capacity.

    Advice to Management

Don't pretend to be a "tech company" but abandon what makes tech fun: flexible working hours and fun when you are in the office. Stop promoting by proximity, instead choose the best candidate. Be willing to pay market rate for talent and staff appropriately.

    Pros

Strong portfolio, knowledgeable employees, continuous investment in portfolio and strong balance sheet.

    Cons

Competitors are catching up and/or securing market share in North America. Talent retention has become an issue.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in the people, determine method to retain talent and continue to invest in the portfolio to maintain the market leader position across the portfolio.

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sabre has a combination of the best work, the best clients and an amazing work life balance. YPC, the young professionals resource group is a wonderful platform to network, meet more people, meet executives. The work is challenging and fun, the headquarters has an in-house cafeteria, Sabre is very pro-active with environment conservation and with volunteering.

    Cons

There are none that I can think of at the moment.

    Advice to Management

Mid-level management is mis-aligned with top level management and individual contributors.

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Green building & nice cafeteria.

Most teams have come together to consistently work around organizational barriers as they are introduced.

Pay tends to be higher than average. (The recent pulse survey showed, the #2 reason employees comes to work is for the paycheck)

    Cons

Sr. Leadership is leading with fear and building strategy around stock price and not around our customers or products.

Days are filled with meetings where everyone multitasks and are not mentally present nor focused on the meetings intended outcomes.

Management spends their days in meetings and managing by spreadsheet. They don't know a what is happening on the floor of their own departments nor the high opportunity costs of the decisions they are making.

    Advice to Management

Focus our strategy on how to create great products/services and how to satisfy our customers. Your short term thinking is leading our customers to abandon us.

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Organizations available to employees for professional development and growth
    Work/life balance
Flexibility and wfh, depending on the manager

    Cons

Layoffs are becoming too common, with top talent being laid off due to issues with the bottom line
The manager completely determines the experience at the company - plenty of bad managers get promoted

    Advice to Management

There has been a lot of change over the last few years. The company needs a strategy and that direction needs to be communicated to employees. More transparency and investment in top talent to help with the depressed culture.

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cloud management and infrastructure.. Much room for growth. If you desire learning new technologies and cross training.. Cloud Engineering is the place for you.

    Cons

Too much focus on meetings.. More focus is required on completing the tasks. Get the job done is my motto. It's difficult to complete assigned tasks with an overburden of daily meetings.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your staff that actually enjoys what they do. Leave the politics out.
